I got the new Flight Simulator X and when I tried to install it something came up that said you must have Windows SP2. I know I have XP, does this cost money or can I download it?

Use the Windows Update feature. After it scans for needed updates, it will probably want to update it's installer first. After continuing, it might get around to showing you that you can pick SP2.
Be aware that SP2 includes a firewall. Some of your programs may need to be configured to work. Just go to the Control Panel, and go into the Windows Firewall setting. It is best to keep this turned on.
After getting SP2, then go back and get more updates.
OH, if you have only 128MB of RAM, you will probably need MORE. Windows XP with SP2 works best with 512MB or more. So if you must upgrade, go PAST 256MB.
I had not read the requirements for Flight Simulator X... I was thinking about buying it.... When you get it going... have fun.

If your Windows XP is a genuine copy. go to Windows updates and when the page opens up completely, look at the writ side of the page and you will see a note about Win SP2, click on that and follow instructions. But, before you download/install anything, do the following:
Delete any and all Internet temporary files, cookies, history and cache. Do a check disk and a defrag and restart your computer. Then go to windows updates and follow instructions for the download and the installation of SP2. Be real careful though!!!!

SP2 is also known as Service Pack 2. It is an enhancement for Windows XP and it is totally free. All you need to do is go to Microsoft's update site and download the upgrade. Your computer might automatically download the service pack when it searches for updates. However keep in mind that this is a lengthy update. You can download it for free from Microsoft's site. It's Service Pack 2, basically a bunch of patches for Windows XP.
