You have already been given good answers to your question. I went in 2003 and they do the Visa at the time of arrival just as a few people said. You get a slip of paper that looks like a receipt.

Caution--do not loose it--they failed to tell me what it was or its importance and had I not had that when it was time to go I couldnt board the plane. I had almost thrown it away--if I had not been so intent on keeping everything as a reminder of my trip--it would have been gone.

Lets be clear--there is no more danger in Israel than there is in Canada or the US--in fact--there is less.
If you go--let me say this--it will change your life in a wonderful way.

"A Canadian citizen holding a valid Canadian passport does not need to obtain a visa prior to traveling to Israel. A tourist visa valid for a three month stay, will be issued upon entry to Israel."

Hi-As a Canadian citizen-with a Canadian passport, you do not need a visa in advance to travel to Israel-unless you are going as a student. When you get to the airport your passport will be stamped with a travel visa allowing you to stay in the country as a tourist for up to 3 months. You will not have "big problems" travelling to other countries once you have been to Israel unless they are Arabic countries. NOTE: if going as student you NEED a student visa!

The comment about having your passport stamped in Israel. You can ask that they do not stamp it-they will honor your request. As I plan to go to some Arab countries (a couple that are anti-Israel) I did not have my passport stamped. I told them why I didn't want it. The custom official just laughed and said OK.

You do need a Visa------check to be sure----------I think you can get yours at the airport. But, check to be sure.
