contrary to what some feel, it does not take much alcohol to effect your senses. I would imagine it would be very important for an athlete not to consume very much alcohol when in training or participating in their sport.

It's really bad for you. Just one ounce of alcohol will affect your coordination.
There is no acceptable amount of consumption for peak athletic performance.

Alcohol in small amounts does not have an effect on anyone. However, if consumed in large amounts, it slows motor functions and brain functions.
The max is supposed to be one glass or wine per day, or the equivalent.

Being one who LOVES alcohol,I'm not going to say it is never acceptable.However,over time and also with consuming large amounts (more than two drinks a day)[lol],alcohol breaks down muscle tissue and impedes growth of new muscle mass.The decision is yours however.

its horrible for you. thats why every time a sports team wins a championship they get smashed on champagne and liquor.
