For the same reason that so many people are leaving Islam: freedom of choice.

If you do earnest research into Islam, you'll find it is a religion of peace that was been hijacked (sorry for the pun) by the fundamentalists. I lost many good friends on that day and in the war on terror. I have a high reguard for true Isalm, not the al-Qaidea style of Islam. I beg you to do some serious study. Look at the Faith of Muhammed (pbuh) and learn the real faith.
As an aside, I have to say that I am not Muslim, but have MANY friends that are. I am Buddhist.

because there are still so many people in the word who are brave enough to admit the truth and islam is the truth , if you read the quraan and mohamed's life , you ll get what i mean
and let me out it in another way , why are so many muslim still sticking to islam and never think of abandoning it regardless of all the discriimination they face around the globe , and even in theie own countries , remember iraq , palestine

Because people began to study about it out of curiosity and shortly after immediately realize that all the stuff that they were told about Islam is false and that Islam is what they were searching for all their lives.

Because they believed in Islam and in prophet Mohamed...they felt faith with it and peace and they learned it and found it is a wonderful religion like you belive in your religion and find it the most wonderful religion and God who make people go to way he want them to go in.
for jenny..Islam didn't order man to beat woman in that way some people understand wrong like you did...Islam ordered man to beat woman in soft way as you treat a baby that how they ordered because Islam is kind with us...Islam isn't against us especially with women.
