What would be the best way to open a "Safe House" for young girls wanting out of prostitution?

I am a 35 year old women who use to escort. I have been throught the entire drug thing with successful sobriety. And now im self employed. I would like to be able to help women (especially young women) get out of prostitution without a big hassel from law enforcement. Most of these girls have drug problems, and battered womens syndrom, and don't have much respect, or trust in cops. How could i set up a safe house for way ward women in this profession to get out and clean?

Alot of the main issues you addressed already.
First, you need to just have the logistical capacity to accomodate a number of young, troubled women. Enough bedrooms and bathrooms, etc.
Next, you have to consider safety. You'll be dealing with alot of violent gangs and pimps. Will you have experienced protection available?
Lastly, you must consider services. Do you have connections with experts in the areas of drug treatment? Medical personnel who will assist with withdrawel issues. Psychological counseling? Job placement help after they clean up? New clothes, personal care items, etc.?

I would suggest you try to make some connections in the law enforcement community who would be sympathetic and helpful to your cause. I'm sure there would be some out there. These connections can not only help with protection, but also referrals for all the girls on the street they encounter. Maybe approach some female officers, as they might be more sympathetic?

I think it depends on the person (men can be prostitutes too). There are some people who do go into prostitution of their own free will. In fact, 20/20 just did a show on prostitution in the states and even covered some women who admitted to joining prostitution of their free will and, while perhaps not enjoying their work, they have no real problem with it. Of course, the show also covered women who were forced into it by situation or by force. Or women who hated what the did and hated themselves. So really, I think it depends on the individual and the type of prostitution (high-end prostitutes seem to have less of a problem with what they do). I don't agree with it personally and it would never be anything I could do. However, if a woman joins it of her own free will and is of age and consenting, then its her (or his) body and they should be allowed to do with it what they want.

Look around, is there a person that you can help. if you see one, help them.
If you want to start a business profiting from the misery of others is a solid base to start from. They are called Churches.
I use to use dope, I dont anymore, when I know or see someone that does, I offer to help them. If they want help, they will accept it.
We cannot save the world, that in itself is a stupid statement, we can help people,if they want or need help is where it gets fuzzy.
A Safe House for Female Prostitutes is of itself a mislead.
I applaud your efforts, and when the war on terror is over maybe the goverment will help you out.
A Resort for Retired Prostitutes in the Bahamas would make lotsa $. The ex-prostitutes could serve Non-Alcoholic drinks and Pizza.
Whichever way you go, you will be the Madame, and they will be the working girls.
And get clean? Only the indavidual can cleanse themselves. If they want to.

I understand the viewpoint they may have twards law enforcement.However I lived in the state of Oregon USA and having a safe house with lawenforcement involved worked wonders for there program.My mother talked with the councilors there over a different matter.The courts have programs set up to help those individuals that could work,so get a hold of them and go from there.They would appreciate the help.

First of all, I applaud you in your idea. I am a former foster parent, who has accepted a few "street" gir;s into our home. They truly need a safe place to be.

To answer your question,. I would first consult with an attorney. There are bound to be leagal issues that no one is going to think of. Then there are the zoning issues. There are many places (the town I live in as an example) that are more than willing to have such places exist, as long as it's NIMBY (Not in my back yard).

the best way is to say you can and do it if the law interfeers contact this number i am posting they will line them out very quick. 1.800.. unt. mars.com this is the frderal marshals number. i would think that police would be glad to see the women change but that is a very different think in my opion . start with a charty drive for help this is very legal this i know for a fact . and if needed as far as rehab if needed for them it is free as well many say it isnt i know this to be fact . as well have them all checked. at the health department to be sure that they arent infected with a.std. this would be logic. in there health as well past life style . and you be very superised how many private grants you are intiled to to help them this is also law as well open it as a halfway house to reform them by law this is legal i know this to be fact. good luck on what you are doing god bless. ? ///

Talk to some people who have done the same thing and do your homework. Take some coursework at a jr. college and read up on how to start non-profit orgs.

There are tons of Grants for Female Entrepreneurs starting in business, if you tell them your reasoning in the application letter I'm positive you'd be accepted.
