I'm very uneasy in certain situations and it keeps me from having fun. Last time I went to a party, I had to get drunk to dance and mingle. I get so jealous of others who can do that without any help. Also, I'm very scared to take any drugs. I hear they will complete change who I am.

Maybe drunk was too strong of a word. I try to just "loosen" up with a few drinks. Never falling down, slopy drunk.

You're right to be scared to take any drugs. Believe me, you don't want to do that. They have many side effects, and you could develop a psychological as well as a physical dependence on them. Anxiety is a normal thing that every person, even those who seem to not have a hard time with it have. It is normal. I've found that when I'm nervous, the best thing is to just go up to people any way, and they are usually completely oblivious to whatever I'm feeling, because the truth is that most people are primarily focused on themselves any way. They probably don't even realize how anxious you're feeling. And drinking isn't the answer either. I don't drink at all, and I've just learned to deal with nerves the old fashioned way. Just bite your lip and say a prayer that everything will be alright. And almost always, it will be. I hope this helps. Bye, hun.

First of all, you need to ask yourself are you just having anxiety in some social situations or most of the time? And does it affect your life to the extent that you avoid most if not all of those situations? because if you are you might have, what is called social anxiety disorder(social pobia).
Here You can find definiation of social anxiety: http://www.socialanxietyinstitute.org/define.html
If you have those problems, youre probably better off talking to a real health profession such as a psychiatrist or mental health counselor.

Have you tried seredyn? it's all natural and no BS it does really work. Try to stay away from Xanax or anything similar because they are HIGHLY addictive. Pls check out the links below because there very helpful. I can also tell you alcohol is in no way going to help you, it will only mask the problem

I was going to say talk to a doctor about medicine, there is also a thing called Neuro feedback, its painless and can help with the social anxiety, youd have to talk to a doctor about that though. But you should try the medicine and if it does change who you are then stop taking it.

Im in the myspace group too, I get anxiety with my depression as my doctor called it. Going to see a psychatrist in the near future.
Try not to rely heavily on beer, I am probably an addict of alcohol now and hope to quit it in the future.
Scared of taking drugs too. I also hate the "Mental" tag being put on me but thats life I guess.
