Global warming is a serious problem to this generation and all those following it. We have solutions, maybe not in mass quantity or practicality, but they do exist. However, the problem is that we lack activity by the majority. Not just here in America, but all over the world. The growing industrial economies, such as china and india, are pushing us farther into the hole we have been digging ourselves in for decades. How are we to educate, and activate the majority of people that remain either seemingly blissfully unaware or morally secure with the end of the world?

Grrr... I just don't understand people sometimes. The truth about global warming is... there is no truth. To say that we, as pathetic humans, understand the intracacies of the world around is incredibly naive. The point is that even if we have projections, mathematical models, etc. we are still pretty clueless about the planet. There is so much more that we don't know than what we do. I don't want to seriously damage the economy or waste money on something we cannot be certain of. I'm not saying global warming doesn't exist, but I'm not saying it does. I question anybody who is so arrogant to think they know for certain either way.

I think global competition is one of the reasons why many are so ignorant and do the least possible. You have global powers racing to become more technological than the others, trying to have the highest GNP, flexing their military all over the place, etc... The end result is no nation is willing to put a major regulation into place that may result in falling behind. How we use oil is probably the biggest cause of global warming. Trying to regulate oil WILL slow down our economy (right now everything revolves around the usage of oil). Remember also that Bush has something to do with the oil in Iraq. The prices did not go down even after we invaded (the rep party and bush are probably pocketing the money). As for alternatives, they are slowly coming along.

A number of scientists signed on to the theory of global warming after reading only the synopsis of the book written by the same person who wrote the book. Then a bunch of them decided to actually read the book. The things in the book did not support the theory, according to a lot of them. If you study global temperatures over the whole period of time that they have been actually recorded, you will see patterns. Periods of high temps, periods of low temps, more storms, less storms, and on and on. These things have been going on since the beginning of time, and will continue. Nothing is constant when it comes to weather. The theory of global warming is based on the fact that, globally, temperatures have increased 1 degree in the last 100 years. In the next 100 years, it is impossible to say accurately what if any change in the earth's atmosphere will be, let alone prove that humans had something to do with it.
If you are afraid that you will be flooded out when all the ocean's ice melts, try this: Put some ice in a glass and fill it to the brim. Let it melt. Did it run over? No because the density of ice is less than water and it displaces it's own weight..

We can start with things like NOT making Hummers and other cars and trucks that get 8 MPG, but that won't happen here because we're a bunch of selfish, spoiled brats in this country. It amazes me that we have an oil crisis, and yet we must do things that carelessly burn thousands of gallons of gas on things for our own pathetic enjoyment like car racing (Indy 500, NASCAR, etc) and we must drive these military vehicles to impress others people because we're so damn insecure as a nation. Sad. Great question though!

Global Warming is supposed to be affecting everybody but others were not concerned about the environment by being busy with politics, economy and religion.

Simple - because the uneducated and uninformed masses believe a scientifically illiterate US President and oil company sponsored propaganda while ignoring several hundred Nobel Laureates and the National Academy of Sciences.

because greedy share holders and christian churches keep filling the weak minded with BS and telling them that its unfounded and untrue, so they can continue to line their own pockets. Just reduce your own usage and hope that people will begin to follow you, silent protest is best as all the products that are causing global warming are supplied on a need basis, if we exercise our rights and use a lot less, then need lessens along with the supply.

We can start by banning the automobile, electricity, and every packaged product in every store. I'm willing. Are you ready to live like a caveman also?
