You can verify this in a number of places on the web. It is NOT illegal in any US state or Canadian province to drive barefoot. It's actually safer to drive barefoot than flip flops, sandals, clogs, heels, or slippery shoes. The "illegal" is a rumor. Need proof? You can look at pedolgroup.com, barefooters.org, or even an online search for "Urban Legends driving barefoot".

This was even mentioned on numerous "Myth/Urban Legends" TV shows.

I live in Arcata Ca, and it is not against the law to drive barefoot i do everyday because it relaxes me

I'm not aware of any laws against it. And being you're in a car, nobody knows if you're barefoot or not.

No, I think it's illegal in every state. Something to do with hurting your foot on an unseen object and causing an accident
