probably because they don't have to worry about their parents telling them that they have a curfew and they have to do the homework, and the chance to be away for a whole year. meeting new people. i haven't gone to college (in HS) but my bros are and they seem like they are having a thrilling(can't believe i used that) time. maybe it isn't for everyone.

In the programs you took their might have been other high school students. I feel that some people didn't like high school because some were bored because you have to take the same classes as everyone else. In college you only have to take classes for the field you want to go into. Some classes are the same like English, Math, Science. Don't base your future on just 2 programs. Go for a year and then make a decision. Or try a local community college. You are smart, you'll make the right decision for you.

College is more of an elective, meaning you choose to do this rather than it being mandatory, like highschool. You are older, maybe a little more mature than you were in highscool, plus you get to start college with a clean slate, meaning you can pick and choose a whole new set of friends. And also people at colleges tend to not be as clannish because the main reason most people are in college is to learn, not to make some poor schmucks life a pure living hell everyday. You usually don't have classes with the same set of people until you get higher up in your major and then you might start running into some of the same people that are having to take the same courses as you are. Also, even the chance of this is slim, depending on the size of college you are attending. Be nice and friendly, you'll meet some of the same!

Two classes are not exactly enough to know what college is like. Not all the instructs are stale and lack personality. College coursework is harder and there is more of a demand.
College you have more freedom. You get to choose the major of your choice, the classes you want when you want, and you meet a huge variety of people.
Of course in college it is every man for himself. College is full of adults and you have to make decisions. It is not like high school where they are holding your hand and telling you what decisions you have to make and having your parents fill out the appropriate forms. It is up to you to make the right decisions about your education. No one is going to be there to make it for you.

There's a ton of factors:
1. No parents.
2. Social life is a lot more when you bring gf back to single room.
3. The social scene.
4. There's simply more time to study. You can schedule your classes, have more choices etc.
5. The grading scale. In HS our grading scale 94-95 A-, 96-100 A. It was the most unfair thing. In college the 10 pt scale makes it a lot easier to get A's.
6. You can choose your teachers.
7. You're not in school all day.
There are a ton of drawbacks, such as lousy food.
But the big change is the atmosphere.

AH that is kinda the way life is .. You sadly need to realize that all campuses are that way. .BUT SOME professors are great and some are awful... SOme teachers you swear worked at 7 eleven before this job... . BUT . college differs from high school.. you are on your own (They do not hold your hand at any time .. like high school .. Your in for a semester ..ITS like a drive in car wash .. in and out.. ) especially if your out of state... You need to get your self together and realize you need to go to school and get it out of the way .. get your degree ,,, get a good job.. and be done with it . The reason that these kids act like this is because they are not mature. You need to be smarter than the rest and just bear down and get your job done .(. wait till the chiropractor teaches your biology class and keeps changing where he gets his notes from ....when its test time. His or the book??? ) then you want to scream.. If you hate it that much look into differnt colleges .. talk your parents .. you may be at the wrong school . Or Not ready for college yet.

Well maybe cause its your age to play and enjoy life when you are in high school rather than hitting your head against books and boring classes. By the time you are ready for the college you are grown up and mature enough to take your own decisions.

It may just be the classes you've taken. Most people's experience with college is more positive. I bet if you hang in there you'll find out what the big fuss is all about. For now, just study hard and know you're not missing much else.

There is a chance that the college you are going to isnt the right college for you. Every college has a unique personality, some student will go to where you are because they just want the basic learning experience. Try going to these sites and see what fits you best.

people love college because basically it's not as strict as high school . . and you pick your own schedule, so you don't necessarily have to be in class at 8am everyday . . . but overall, college is what you make of it . . remember the reason you are there (to get an education) . . get to know your professors . . and always do your best . . .
