My mom is really nice, and I love her, but sometimes she's really embarrasing because she has a small bladder. Whenever we go somewhere and stop to fill our gas tank, she always goes inside to find a bathroom, and I know that when you gotta go you gotta go, but it's really annoying! I really wish she would just go find one and not say anything about it, because even if we're not with anyone it's really embarrasing. Sometimes she even asks me if I need to go, and that's even worse, especially in front of my little brothers. Please, can someone give me some advice on dealing with this?
Thanks!

Please! You don't understand. My brothers are perverts when it comes to girls my age! (I am 13.) One time they even asked me if I was wearing a bra. If you don't have anything truly useful to say, please don't answer this question.

talk to her about it, the only way for her to stop doing this is if you tell her excatly how you feel. Let her know that you understand that she has this issue but if she could adress it in a different way it would make you so much happier. Tell her that you dont want her to tell everyone about this and just go when she has to go, not to make a fuss about it. And that your old enough to know when you gotta go so you would like it if she wouldnt ask you all the time as well. Tell her that you love her and your saying this because its just getting embarrasing to you, and that you would love it if she could do this for you.
Make sure you explain to her that you are not mad at her and that you love her and all just that you wish she would make less of what she really is making of this whole thing.

Wow! You are really young. I really don't know how to tell you to get through this right now. I can tell you as a former 13 year old now grown with kids of my own I do remember having those same feelings. We are all embarrassed and ashamed of things in our family but what we don't realize at that young age it that these are normal everyday typical things that everybody has to deal with. For you it may be your mom with the small bladder for someone else it could be their dad who farts in public. All of these things - and for some reason especially bodily functions - are just devastating to teens. Who knows why? This is something so small and to you I know it seems like such a big deal right now. Try to have a little mercy on her. She is your mom and we are used to having to ask our kids if they have to go because inevitabily you guys ALWAYS have to go as soon as we take off.
Instead of thinking about YOURSELF in this situation let's think about your mom. I'm sure it's uncomfortable to her and inconvenient that she has this problem. It would probably add insult to injury if she knew you were embarrassed by something she has no control over. Try to think about mom and not so much about yourself. It always helps to try to see things from the other persons side.
Now, to shut up your little brothers. All you have to do when she asks if you need to go to the bathroom is call them by name really LOUD so that everyone around can hear you and say "Oh, BOB (or whatever your bro's name) DID YOU SAY YOU NEED TO GO PEE-PEE? HOLD ON MOM BOB NEEDS TO GO PEE-PEE! That should shut them up.
P.S. Hang in there kid! Growing up is hard!

Hey--all 13-year-olds are embarrassed by their parents. It's something about the age. You are starting to realize your mom is only human.
Keep this in mind when you feel embarrassed. Is she really doing anything that bad, or are you just suffering from the normal over-sensitivity of your age.
As for your little brothers, they're jealous because you're older and they want your attention.

Why is that embarrassing? I don't get it. You answered your own question, she has a small bladder, the end!
The only advise I can give you is stop being so judgmental, especially against your own mother.
Trust me some people reeeeeeeeeeeeally have embarrassing mothers, a couple extra rest stop is nothing. Like one tooth in the mouth embarrassing, or crazy hair do embarrassing. Or nasty body odor embarrassing. The list goes on and on.
You are making something out of nothing, lighten up.

Guess when she probably started having this problem???? When she had your tail. Lots of women who have babies will have problems controlling their bladders after childbirth. So the next time your mom tells ya she needs to go to the bathroom you should be reminded of the hours she spent in the labor and delivery room waiting on you to get here.

how about being a little more understanding .... your mom has a medical condition and has to go often to the bathroom .... why not go with her sometimes.... she's dealt with you when you had problems --- learn to sympathize.... because her problem isn't going away. As for the little brothers - we all know how they can tease ... why don't you tickled them!

Why in the world is this embarrasing?? I think you are much to sensitive way to sensitive and be glad your mom doesn't have a real disability. How would you react to her if she had trets or something? Someday you will be her!
