Antichrist
Meaning: Against Christ, or an opposition Christ, a rival Christ
This word is used only by the apostle John. Referring to false teachers, he says (1 John 2:18,22; 4:3; 2 John 1:7), "Even now are there many antichrists."
Antichrists in the Bible:
the "little horn" of the "king of fierce countenance" (Dan. 7:24-25; 8:23-25).
the "false Christs" spoken of by our Lord (Matt. 24:5, 23-24).
the "man of sin" described by Paul (2 Thess. 2:3-4, 8-10).
the "beast from the sea" (Rev. 13:1; 17:1-18).
The words "antichrist" and "antichrists" appear only five times in the Bible - in the epistles 1 John and 2 John:
Children, it is the last hour, and as you have heard that antichrist is coming, so now many antichrists have come. Therefore we know that it is the last hour." (1 John 2:18, ESV)
Who is the liar but he who denies that Jesus is the Christ? This is the antichrist, he who denies the Father and the Son. (1 John 2:22, ESV)
And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world. (1 John 4:3, ESV)
Many deceivers have gone out into the world; they do not confess the coming of Jesus Christ in the flesh. This is the deceiver and the antichrist. (2 John 1:7, ESV.)
In these contexts, "antichrist" seems to describe people who used to be seen as leaders in the church but who had begun preaching heretical doctrines. In particular, these "antichrists" seem to have promoted the gnostic idea that Jesus was a spirit instead of a man. ("They do not confess the coming of Jesus Christ in the flesh."). Alternatively, the term sometimes seems to indicate a specific person or single spirit of deception that motivates false teaching and whose presence is a sign of the end times.
The understanding of one person being 'the' Antichrist appears to be combined in 1 John with the idea of a class of persons. There John speaks of "many antichrists" who typify the "spirit of the antichrist" that was present in the first century ("is in the world already" 1 John 4:3). As John wrote, such an antichrist (or opponent of Christ) "denies that Jesus is the Christ"; "denies the Father and the Son"; and "does not confess Jesus is come in the flesh."

It's unclear who of what the "antichrist" might be.
Some say it is a person, maybe a leader or charasmatic fellow.
Some say it could be a nation or way of thinking.
Some say Rome and the Pope
Some say Islam or maybe some future Caliph
Some say America
Some say Jewish. Some indicate it might be a comming of the Jewish Messiah.
Some say it will be an Assyrian, others say that isn't possible because John already said Assyria has fallen, so it must be the two remaining "horns" one of which is the Byzantine or Rome, the other is a wild card, possibly the US.
There has been speculation for centuries over this.
It is said the number 666 or 616 (or the Greek or Hebrew eqivalents) is identify this entity (the letters WWW for the World Wide Web make the number 666 in Hebrew).
Rightfully the number is 600, six score and six.
It is said that people will have a mark on their forheads or arms or wrists and nothing can be bought or sold without this mark and it is the mark of the beast and comes from the best.
I guess that means Pay Pal and E-bay the Antichirst! You can't buy or sell nothing on E bay without Pay Pal and it's on the WWW or 666.
The whole concept, however, comes from men. Daniel, Paul, John, Matthew.
None of this directly came from Jesus other than Jesus warning about false prophets or people that would capialize on Jesus.
None of this comes directly from God, except as visions to Daniel and John and people are warned in the Bible by other men not to listen to soothsayers and fortunate tellers and psychics or those who have visions.
So there's a paridox.
Here's the facts as it seems.
If JOHN is correct in his vision there is an END OF TIMES, there will be some type of a beast or evil or ANTICHRIST and people will flock to it, get the number on their heads or wrists and be denied a place in heaven because they are NOT in the book of life and this is all pre-ordianed.
The end will come, the beast will come, its up to each individual to pick the right side.
There will be a choice and you will have to make it. Make the wrong choice and you are not in the book of life.
That's about all we know, we know not when or where all this will happen.
In the meantimes everyone is so caught up on End of Times, Rapture and AntiChrists that they are forgetting Jesus Christ and what he stood for, preached and wanted us all to do.

In Yahoo! Answers ~ Religion and spirituality there are mainly two group - one Pro- Christ and another one Anti-Christ (they include mainly muslims and other religions and do not belive in Christianity.) A great was is going on this section. We will have to wait for longtime to see the results and who is winning the game. Anyway, I just mentioned is as a jok but actual discrption you wanted is given below. It is from Wikipedia-
In Christian eschatology the Antichrist or Anti-christ (literally: anti, opposite; christ, messiah) has come to mean a person, image of a person, or other entity that is the embodiment of evil and utterly opposed to truth, according to Christianity, while convincingly disguised as wholly good and a bringer of truth. Modern associations with the term Antichrist have ranged from Mikhail Gorbachev to Osama bin Laden.
The English word Antichrist is taken from the Greek αντίχριστος antíkhristos, which literally means "instead of Christ". In the Bible, the term itself appears only in 1 John and 2 John.

The "anti-christ" literally means anything/anyone that is against Christ and what he stands for. Anything/anybody that goes against what Christ would do or have his followers to do. Anyone who denies Christ is the Anti-christ. The most famous known anti-christ is Satan. Read I John 2:18 "Little children, it is the last time: and as ye have heard that antichrist shall come, even now are there many antichrists: whereby we know that it is the last time. Verse 22-"Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son."

2 John 1:7For many deceivers are entered into the world, who confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist.
1 John 4:3And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.

“Many deceivers have gone forth into the world, persons not confessing Jesus Christ as coming in the flesh. This is the deceiver and the antichrist.” And also further identifying the antichrist: “Who is the liar if it is not the one that denies that Jesus is the Christ? This is the antichrist.”—2 John 7; 1 John 2:22, 18,
It appears that “antichrist” has a twofold meaning. As its name indicates, it is anti or opposed to Christ. And it also has the thought of false or pseudo Christ, in the place or stead of Christ. While, as we have seen, some have attempted to apply the term to a certain individual, or organization, the foregoing scriptures, together with the physical facts, indicate that all persons, organizations or groups that falsely claim to represent Christ, that arrogate to themselves the Messianic role or that oppose Christ and his followers can properly be termed antichrists, even as Jesus said: “He that is not on my side is against me, and he that does not gather with me scatters.” (Matt. 12:30, NW) Interesting in this connection is the observation made by McClintock & Strong’s Cyclopædia that “the just conclusion seems to be that Antichrist is not to be confined to any single person or power, but is essentially a great principle or system of falsehood having various manifestations, forms of working and degrees.”

Yes someone who will rise from the Middle East and bring peace to that region. This one person will show himself as peaceful and will fool many. He will be able to perform great miracles. People will say he is the Messiah, including the Jews. It tells you in the Bible about the mark of the beast. The beast in this sense is a person, who is acting like a wild animal that wants to ravage and kill. This person will be against all Christians and non Christian alike if they do not agree with their rule.

anyone who is not for Christ is....an antichrist.
But if youre referring to the one mentioned in Revelation...
he will make his apperance just before or during the first part of the seven year tribulation when the non-believers are left behind.
He will first appear as a man of great power, claiming his motives are to bring about global peace. In the firat 3.5 years he will have evryone fooled into thinking he is a great man, but his true colors will come out after the 3.5 year mark. He will require everyone to get the mark of the beast or 666 upon their forehead or hand, as you will not be able to buy, sell or trade without this mark. Futhermore, the spirit of God will no longer dwell with men (harder to get saved) I pity anyone who is here during this time. Everyone hates Christians so bad, but when we're gone think about the people you will be left here with. You may think we're nuts but the majority of us a peace-makers.

The anti-Christ of the Bible was likely Emperor Nero, of first-century Rome. He was a known persecutor of Christians. He blamed them for the fire of Rome. Letters in the Hebrew alphabet also have numerical equivelants. Nero's name, in Hebrew, equals 666, the number of the beast in the Book of Revelation. Revelation was likely meant as a message of hope for early, Roman Christians.
