Here's a suggestion. Spend less time on answers and work hard. There are no substitutes for hard work.

Always make sure you do your homework. That is some easy way to get full points. If you have a bad test score, having all your homework done can help combat that.

When your teacher tells you to read a chapter, read and take notes.

If you don't understand something ask the teacher or ask mom for a tutor if you need some extra help.

Pay attention in class and take notes

Make flash cards for vocabulary.

Study study study

If a teacher gives you a study guide, do the study guide. 100% of the time that is what they want you to know.

Do all your work as soon as you get home from school. You are still in school mode and you will less likely procastinate or not do it at all if you don't right after you get home from school.

Get a planner and write down all your assignments and what you need to take home. I used a binder all through high school and had a folder for every class. Also had an additonal folder just to put homework worksheets in there if the teacher assigned one. Find an organization system that works for you. Being organized is a good way to assure you have all your papers, homework, etc and you won't lose points for missing homework because you lost it.

OK, in 9th grade I had a teacher that taught me to study. It helped me so much. First I paid attention in class. I took notes on loose paper. I wrote down anything that I thought was important. Of course, this teacher put notes on the board. I know they all don't. But, I took notes in my other classes the same. Then when I got home, By the way He graded our notebooks as 50% of our grade!, I copied the notes over in a notebook just for that class and then I read the chapter that we were on so I didn't miss anything. I never felt bad about asking for extra help if I needed it. There is usually someone willing to help. So, by the time I saw his notes, wrote them down ,in class and wrote them down again in the notebook, I remembered more that I even knew. I used seeing, touching..by writing, and then If I had to I would go over the class with a classmate on the phone at night, so speaking also. So, all of the senses together, took a little time but seemed to get it in my head where no other way ever did. Just a thought. Try it and see. Good luck to you. Hope mom is proud of you. I know you can do it!!!

Trust me Ive learned from experience. Don't procrastinate!!! Even when you dont feel like doing your homework..put this into consideration, whats your future going to be like. Yeah its true you always hear adults talking about the future saying things like "you have to plan for your future" but in reality..the future is now. Life flies by, dont waste your time worrying about what everyone at school is doing right now. Because in a few years, that would matter. What will matter is where your life is going..so get your act together and work really hard..so that you can get into a decent college so that you can get a good job and start your life now. Forget about whats going on right now, start planning for the next few years. Look at it this way, you only get one try at this..so act now. If you need extra help start asking for tutors, and if you cant do that ask friends for help or teachers..receiving good grades means to go over and beyond. So do it! You can, anyone can.

First, you need motivation, determination, and persistence. Then what you can do is pay attention and participate in class activities. Take plenty of notes and make sure you'll be able to understand them later. After school, it often helps to rewrite your notes to plant it into your brain. When it comes to homework, do NOT procrastinate! Listen to Nike and JUST DO IT. Try not to think about what you could be doing instead of writing that super long english essay. If you have problems, make sure to use all your resources (books, family, notes, and sometimes the Internet), and if you still have questions, identify them and go to ask your teacher for help. Asking the teacher can benefit in BIG ways. They will see that you are trying and that willing to learn, and, because of this, they may give you an extra boost if you need it.
Best of luck to you! You can do it!

always pay attention in class and take good notes . . if there is something that you don't understand, ask the teacher for help (even if you have to stay after class or get tutoring) . . always complete your assignments and turn in all homework assignments . . always study the material (or at least read through it), even on nights when you don't have homework - that way it will stay fresh in your mind . . . in classes where there's a lot of reading (like history or english), try to read ahead of the class, so that way when the teacher is discussing it in class, you will already know what he/she is talking about . . don't wait until the night before to study for a big test . . start studying a few nights ahead of time, so you won't be trying to cram all of the information in your head . . . . try to get a good night's sleep every night and eat a good breakfast every morning . . they say eating breakfast helps your concentrate throughout the day . . . good luck!

I am a student too, and would love to get better grades. What I do is listen very carefully to your teacher in class, if you get a bad grade on a test or other assignment, thena ask your teacher if you can retake it. Ask your teacher if you could do any extra credit or extra work. Get alll homeowrk assignments completed and on time, and take lots of time on homework if you have it, or you could ask your friends for help, maybe even a tutor. Just study and work really hard on everything and you will get straight A's in no time! GOOD LUCK!

This is what I did. I bought a buncha colored pens and highlighters, and such. When I took notes I wrote them in diff colors. And underlind things in one category one color and another another color. I drew the diagrams and such in color, and put bubbles around other things. I did it with Anatomy, science, Health ect.
I found when notes were in color I liked to study them more, and it made thing easier to remember. Plus if you get graded on your binders the teacher will love it.
If you can't keep up with writing in all the colors and coloring the diaghrams as the teacher shows.says them, do as much as you can and finish up the rest as soon as you can ( in study hall or at home)
Then it sounds stupid but make up small songs, like in anatomy...the anatomy macarena....frontal, protal, occipital, frontal, protal, occipital, frontal, protal, occipital, maxilla and mandible. To the tune of the macarena while touching each bone in the head....it works!! You will remember things that way. Also I am not sure what it is called when you take make a word of out of the 1st letters of things., to help you remeber a concept of the order of things...Like....MESLS the order that food goes through the digestive tract. Mouth, Esophagus, stomache, small intes. larg intest. get it? The word you make doesn't even have to make sense as long as you understand and can member it.
Study as much as you can, and if you don't get it stay after, one on one help is always great. Get together with others and study.
It's more or less of a choice and making learning fun, see if I'm not right

Please do it for yourself. I understand you promised to your mom to get good grades and the best way to get them is study and learn all you can. Success will be according to the efforts you will be putting in your studies. No-one can do it for you and when you succeed you will be so proud of yourself! So will be your mom!

Have a great success. You are a good kid and care about your mom. She loves you and will not be dissapointed. Believe me!

1. pay attention in class. (get enough sleep, it makes you concentrate better)
2. If you don't understand something, go ask your teacher, don't hesitate and wait unitl the last minute (like a day before exam)
3., Do all your homework, and if you have time left, review what you have learned
4. try to stay away from tv and computer as much as possible (doesn't mean you have to)

Key thing is managing your time well.
