Oh my goodness. We all do embarrassing things!
Just today, my dad and I were waiting for my mom in the car outside of the grocery store, and a lady came up with a few bags of groceries and almost got in our car! She then realized that we were not her family, and she looked so humiliated, I just felt sorry for her.
As I witnessed this, I realized how there is really no need to be embarrassed. If I would have done what that lady did, I too would have been embarrassed, but being on the other side, I realized that there was no reason for it. I didn't think anything bad about her at all. Our car just looked like hers. No big deal.
So try to see things in perspective. What will this embarrassing thing seem like in 10 years? Probably not much. Probably something you can laugh about.

Of course it's okay to do embarassing things. Everyone has embarassing moments, it's perfectly normal. One thing to remember is that when it comes to embarassing yourself - you'll remember it a lot longer than anyone else. Most people have a good laugh (or scream depending on how you embarassed yourself) and then they move on and forget about it. I still kick myself for embarassing things I did 10+ years ago. But bet me none of the people who were witnesses remember it or really care a year from now. Don't worry - things will turn out okay and you're not alone. You'll just have to be careful to watch yourself in similar situations in the future. :)

I ask myself, "is anyone going to care, or even remember in ten years?" the answer is usually "no"

Yes, it happens to everyone. Learn from it, and then put it behind you.
