Here are a few suggestions:
- A bookmark with a nice ribbon and a "thank you" signed by the two of you. Buy an affordable and nice paper from Office Max or Wal-mart. If you are creative, you could even add some artwork there. You may even glue a dried flower or leaf that goes with your wedding color.
- Buy nice paper doilies, put some M&M's or Hershey's Kisses inside and them wrap them nicely. Tie a nice ribbon with a thank you note. With some creativity, they will look really nice. Make sure that they will match your wedding colors.
- If you're lucky enough, you could find some nice picture frames at a dollar store. Add some nice touches with the use of a glue gun and some art accessories from Michael's or any craft stores. You could even personalize each one and then go with your wedding theme.
- Jewelry box is also a neat idea. Try to find some at any 99 cents store. Be it made of ceramics or wood, you could make it a lot better by just adding a few touch ups. Just be patient and creative.
Remember, ribbons, dainty little flowers, tool, and other art accessories will make a big difference. Always think creativity. Good luck and congratulations!

150 people is NOT a "small and intimate" wedding. That is a lot of guests. Im from PA, and I think a lot of wedding receptions cost $30-60 per person, for a nice wedding but nothing over the top. Buffets are not tacky, if they are kept clean and neat as people pass through. Ask the venue if they have staff specifically watching over and changing the serving utensils as necessary. Many guests prefer a buffet these days with picky eaters, vegetarians, and allergies. Sit down dinners are nice, but buffets are not considered tacky by most people. A budget of 2000 for the reception dinner wont get you far if you dont cut your guest list. Honestly, the reception and ceremony are what you should be working on before you even start thinking about the invitations, makeup, and dresses. Dont be one of those brides who comes on here in a panic because she hasnt budgeted enough for the reception and now has no options. If I had 2000, I would rent a party room at a nice local restaurant, treat 30 guests to a nice dinner, bring my own wedding cake, and skip the DJ dancing and centerpieces. You should get out there NOW and start looking at reception venues. I think you will be surprised at how much it will cost you.

I will be married in 5 months so I feel your stress. I am doing a lot myself. I think candy is the cheapest gift. Just try to find a way to tie it to a part of your wedding color/theme. Like everyone who was talking about the ribbon and netting, package the candy (if you go that way) in those things using the colors of your wedding. I am going to try to make all my centerpieces myself also. I thought I would give those to people who are special/honored guests. Or maybe you could earn a little and auction them off depending on what they are, this could help pay for some things and will get your guests to participate. I do like the cookie cutter idea and the spoonful of kisses. Those ideas were cute too. I also went to an outdoor wedding where the couple used fishbowls as center pieces. They put gems/pebbles at the bottom and put a Betta in each and gave them to their special guests. This was however a very small wedding too. Hope this helps some. Congratulations on your Happily Ever After!!!!!!!!!!!!

You can make candy flowers. Get Hershey kisses and stick to of them together on the fat ends. Put a piece of wire in the bottom for the stem and add pretty colored foil to the top. Wrap green tape around the wire and add a leaf.
You could also make small picture frames, use them as name cards for where you want the guests to sit.
You could make koozies with your wedding info. I have seen these at weddings and they were a big hit.
I have also seen where people had a basket with flower seeds in it that they had people plant to represent the new begginning.

My step sister got gold, and silver plastic spoons, put 2 hershey kiss' in them ( the purple and gold and silver ect....diff combos), got some of that thin netted material that veils are made out of and wrappd that around the kiss' on the edge of the spoon, tied it to the spoon with colored ribbon and curled it with scissors.
You could get diff colored spoons, candies, material, and ribbon depending on what your color theme is.
It isn't expensive and it's super cute. Plus the guests will love them....don't you hate when you go to a wedding and the favors are something you will never use, and just have to throw away?

handmade candies in cute littel gift bags are always a good idea. burned cds of music are alos an idea, as are littel bells (these also get rid of people hitting their glasses with thier forks. they can ring for you to kiss, and its a much prettier sound!) JoAnn fabrics, AC Moore, and Micheals all have wedding sections that have some favors you can make!

For my friends wedding she bought clear plastic spoons, a whole bunch of hershey kisses and toule (?) the color of the wedding colors. She put two kisses on the spoon and covered with the toule (?) and tied with appropriately colored ribbon. She printed out her and her husbands names and the wedding date on some nice paper, cut out with edging scissors and threaded on the ribbon.
