Gatorade is extremely high in sodium contents.

The only people who should drink it on a regular basis are those with a rigourous workout schedule, or athletes.

Try water.

Benefits Of Gatorade

Not really. It's mostly empty calories. The danger is that, since it is designed for someone ACTIVE, drinking Gatorade combined with a sedentary life is a good combination for getting fat. Of course, if you want to get fat, then the hazard could actually be a benefit. One hazard that I would have a tough time reinterpreting as a benefit, however, is diabetes. Gatorade is sugar and most of the diabetics I know told me that they used to drink Gatorade instead of water every day. That's like two bottles of Gatorade (ok, they told me they drank more than that). It would be better to drink two bottles of Gatorade and then use them as refillable water bottles for all that tap water that's supposedly so bad for us.

I just know that when you drink gatorade you should drink water, too. Gatorade has electrolytes, which can get the hydration into you fast, but it really helps to drink the water, to give it a chance to do that.

Electrolytes are salts, so that should explain it. They hold you're water in so you dont lose it on a hot day, but also provide potassium for the heart, etc.

I have seen it prescribed by Doctor's.

It all depends on your activity level. If you aren't exerting yourself & loosing electrolytes through perspiration, then you can overload your body with electrolytes if you drink too much gatorade, or any sports drink for that matter. An electrolyte imbalance can cause anything from muscle cramps, headaches, & dizzyness, to kidney failure, cardiac arrest, or even death. If you have a "normal" activity level, (going to school, or work & moving around) 10 - 20 ozs of sports drinks should be ok, but always ask a medical professional if you're not sure.

If you are drinking it just to drink it, there are quite a few calories in it and if you really don't need it because you aren't active, water is a better alternative. It is high in electrolytes and sodium which will put back into your body what sweat takes out.

gatorade is way better than soda, not a problem to drink, are you the same girl who asked if it rots your teeth? i think you should just drink it and ignore stupid comments from your friends. it is not harmful in any way. our football coach says drink it all the time and never drink soda, only gatorade and water. so drink all you want it is good for you. nice hydration.
