I'm a senior and ever since seventh grade I have learned only very few things in school. And my grades show it. I have a 2.2 GPA. In elementary school learning was still hard but I managed to learn the basic important stuff like reading and writing and simple math, but even now at age 18, I can't even attempt to pass a Constitution test or do a "simple" algebra problem. So far I have failed almost 90 percent of my tests since middle school and I am currently a senior in high school. And I have gotten a "C" on every essay just because the teachers are nice. I am also in French II, and all I know are the numbers and just two or three phrases. I only learn useless stuff, for example the other day the my American Government teacher taught us about districts and to determine how many districts there are you divide the entire population by 600,000. I was diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome but my problem seems more severe, and I have no friends.

Speak to your family about it and see if there is a learning center somewhere that you can go to. Sometimes people have "short circuits" in their brains that prevent them from learning in a traditional manner and they need other methods to learn. There might be something out there for you if someone cares enough to take the time.

I am not an expert and I don't know you, but I have a 5 year old Asperger son. From what I have read and observed with my son, this is my hunch/guess: I think your problem may not be learning, but recalling. I can see with my son that the information is in his brain (he is actually quite smart), but he can not "pull it out" on demand. Of course that makes him frustrated and makes it harder to focus. A characteristic of ASD/Asperger brain is a bottleneck in the communication pathways among the brain cells in different regions (research suggests you have more brain cells, so you don't have enough pathways connecting them) . To organize new informatoin in your brain (and to help recall it) you need to be able to link it to other information in your brain...the more links the better. I think the "communication bottleneck" makes this harder. When it's harder, you get more frustrated and may give up. Especially as a kid it is tough. However, now you are old enough to control your own brain. I think if you practice you make more links and the more links you make the better you get etc. It's true for all of us. It may just come more naturally to some. So start small and read something you think you should remember. Then think about it and try to relate it to other things you know...like why some parts of the constitution were put it, how it affetc people, how it affects you, etc etc. Try to explicitly organize the new information in your brain and remember what you are doing is making new links. The more links you have the easier it gets next time.
I hope it helps. It won't change things quickly, but I hope this strategy will work for you in the long term. You are probably very smart, you just have to learn how to use your brain.

I think that everyone is different learning wise. I can relate to how you feel because like you I am in my last year of school. I think I know a concept, I do well on quizzes but when it comes to exams, I don't do well at all. I often get depressed because of this but I know to look on the bright side of things. Although I may lack in certain parts of my studies, I know I can make up for other things in life. Such as my ability to connect with others. I'm not sure why you can't learn in school, try learning whether you are a visual learner, or a listener learner. Look over your notes everyday and try and let it sink in. I hope this helped, and I wish you the best of luck in your studies :)

People are different in the ways they learn. Maybe you need to try some hands-on things to help, or try to do something you like while learning like playing music, soothing music like classical or nature sounds, while learning Algebra. If you cant focus, try teaching yourself how; I mean if you cant learn much, how'd you learn how to work a computer? I'd be thrilled to help you one day. if you ever want my help, my screen name is Waterfall. i hope you fiqure your problem out soon! ( Plus, I also stutter a lot, so dont feel bad. if you want we can be IM buddies!)

i think you should change subjects and only do ones that you enjoy. you will never learn something that your not interested in. most schools have vcal these days maybe thats for you. with your friendship problem try joining some sporting clubs you will get some friends that are like minded and i am sure that you are a great person you are just looking in the wrong places.

Well, have you been putting all your focus on your schoolwork?
Have you been paying attention?
And are you interested in what youve been attempting to learn?
Maybe you just cant concentrate. Try to talk to your doctor to see if you need a pill or sometin.
