The Holy Spirit helps us with our infirmities as we pray. He guides me on what and who to pray for. You have to realize that prayer is broken up into 3 categories, 1. supplications, which are those "individual or personal requests", 2. prayer, which is those things that God desires us to pray for, because you see that is how He works, He can do anything He pleases, but He chooses to only act when we pray, and pray I might add according to His will. That is where the Holy Spirit comes in and helps. 3. Thanksgiving, It's always being thankful for what He provides each day of our lives. Oh and let us not forget, IN JESUS NAME, AMEN!

Lots of different ways, actually. Sometimes people pray very formally. Personally, my prayers tend to be very informal. I talk to God the same way I would talk to my dad, or even a close friend. I usually try to spend most of my prayer time thanking him for the blessings he has provided in my life. But sometimes I pray for healing for sick family or friends, or for guidance in my life both at work and at home, or for peace, comfort and safety for those who are suffering in the world. It's usually a pretty "stream of consciousness" thing for me, and can last a very long time. Sometimes in a long car trip, or on a long walk or jog, I will pray almost the entire time.

There are many, many examples of prayer in the Bible. Those in the New Testament would be more specifically Christian, whereas most in the Old Testament would also be appropriate for a Jew. Part of the character of God revealed in the Bible is His intense, passionate love for people. The prayers are just an appropriate response to that love.
Those who reject the truth of God can't expect any prayer to be answered except for one: confession, asking forgiveness, acknowledging God, and accepting Christ's sacrifice for sin.

There are many ways to pray, depending on whether I am thanking God, asking for forgiveness, or just requesting something. A good way to follow is the prayer that Christ gives us as an example, "Our father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy Kingdom come thy will be done on earth as it is in Heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.
At each point, you can elaborate it into your life.

We pray knowing that our prayer will be heard and answered if we pray according to God's will. This means we do not pray for selfish things and we expect to be heard. Check the two links below for more information on prayer and why many prayers are not answered.

Christians are to pray to thank God for His blessings, we pray for our lost loved ones to be saved and we are to pray for those in authority over us. We offer up prayers of thanksgiving and pray for the peace of Jerusalem.

Sometimes, while riding my horse we get to this one spot, it's so beautiful and peaceful, I just close my eyes and say a little prayer. I say my prayers every night before I go to sleep, most nights I wait until I'm all warm and snugly in bed to close my eyes and say them. I always say them quietly, to myself. It's like I heard as a kid if you say them out loud the devil would hear them and bad things could happen.
I say them quietly, to myself, only me and God knows them.

Jesus tells us Himself in the Gospel according to Matthew, chapter 6.
9"Pray, then, in this way:
'Our Father who is in heaven,
Hallowed be Your name.
10'Your kingdom come
Your will be done,
On earth as it is in heaven.
11'Give us this day our daily bread.
12'And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors.
13'And do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from evil. [For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen].'

Jesus said to pray this way-
Our Father
which art in heaven
hallowed be thy name
thy kingdom come; thy will be done
on earth as it is in heaven
give us this day our daily bread
and forgive us our tresspasses as we forgive those who
trespass against us
lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil;
for thine is the kingdom, the power, and the glory.
forever and ever.
amen

prayer is so simple, prayer is simply talking and communicating with God your Creator. Just being honest and open with him. There is no right way to pray. Just talk to him, make your needs known to him
