I went to the doctor, they stuck the needle into my knee and suctioned the water out. Then they gave me medication for a week to get rid of the swelling and the excess water.

I really couldn't bend it at that time because the swelling had spread to the legs and I could hardly walk having to keep the leg straight.

Stiffness is traditional. As lengthy as you don't re-injure it the swelling must leave on its possess in a couple of days. If it used to be extra of a twisting movement to your knee while you fell you then must frequently get an MRI.

swollen knee after injury means there is either water or most probably blood accumulating inside.
you definitely have to see orthopedic surgeon
believe me i saw alot of bad cases after ice-skating injury, some real bad
you may very well need arthroscope if the swollen knee persists 2 weeks after the injury
i wish you good health.

You will probably have to go to an orthpedic surgeon and have your knee aspirated. That means that they stick a needle into your knee and drain the water. You might have to have this procedure done several times before it actually is gone.
