IIt appears that you have deleted the sound drivers for your computer. If the speaker icon next to the clock on the bottom right hand corner is missing folloe these directions.
1. Right-click "My Computer."
2. Click "Properties."
3. Click on the "Hardware" tab.
4. Click the "Device Manager" button.
5. Check for any entries that says "Unknown device."
6. Right-click "Unknown Device" and click Update Drivers.
Hopefully the driver will reinstall itself, if not got to http://www.drivermagician.com, and follow the directions.

I had the same kind of problem not too long ago. What I found out, was that I hadn't deleted anything, but accidently muted my speakers.
Maybe you should take a look, just to be on the safe side, before you download new programs that you may not need. I went into Control Panel; Sounds & Audio Devices; & checked the settings there.
I hope this helps you.
