Neither. It just means your brain is doing what it normally does while you sleep. There are plenty of books to give you science facts about the physiology of dreams. Freud made a career of fabricating all manner of strange interpertations of dreams.

I think that dreams come from a variety of things, such as our inner most thoughts and feelings, (depending on how spiritual you are) God, even the things we eat late at night can cause us to dream funky dreams
