In order to be a true practitioner of any religion, a person cannot be divided in themselves - they cannot both say that they value something, and not actually value it. They must be free of self-deception.

When someone deceives themselves or is a hypocrite, it makes me feel sorry and wish there was something I could do to help them become one complete, honest person.

I can't actually think of one thing that would HAVE to be done. My religion is Hinduism, and there are several things that can make one a "Hindu" but there is not one central thing I can think of that really defines a Hindu. There are good Hindus who go to a Temple regularly, but there are equally good Hindus who never set foot in a Temple. Usually Hindus do some sort of "puja" or worship ceremony to God in some form, but some Hindus do not. Some Hindus believe that God and the Self are One, and others see God and the Self as distinct. It is even possible to not believe in God at all, and still be considered Hindu.
That's why defining who is a Hindu is really very tricky!

The only MUST do in traditional classic Christianity is the following.

"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." (John 3:16)

The problem is, most of who say they are Christians will always always add rules and regulations and turn salvation as a "thing" to earn or to get rather then acknowledging that the person of Christ is our Salvation. Salvation is the person of Christ and not a set of rules and regulations to follow.

By the way, that is what the Pharisees taught and as they had no salvation to offer and neither do legalistic Churches have salvation to offer.
