Panacea is so wrong on this.....

Opiate addiction....yes, I know something about this. It is hard, and "psychological pain", as Panacea talks about, is not the only pain. It is very hard, withdrawal symptoms, such as hot/cold flashes, insomnia, irritability, fatigue, no motivation, and diarrhea, are just a few of the symptoms of withdrawal. It can be very hard to quit, as one's body goes into withdrawal....like a very bad flu, but also affecting you psychologically. Opiate addicts are used to going through the day feeling good, a certain way, and when they quit, not only do they have withdrawals, but they experience the day almost in a new, terrible way. Reality sucks sometimes...."Reality Bites"?

There is no such thing as opiate addiction. You will not have any withdrawel symptoms at all if you stop using. Drug use is about wanting to use drugs, not about being able to quit. That's why it's so hard to treat (there is nothing to treat). A motivated user can quit immediately. Very few want to.

However, a related issue is what drug use does to a person. It degrades them on all levels, but especially morally. In other words, it turns them into the type of person who loses touch with their humanity and has little interests in doing anything but using drugs. It turns the person into a scumbag. And scumbags simply have no desire to stop using unless forced to. When forced to stop, they have no negative side effects at all.

A great deal. What do you need to know? That is a pretty open-ended question.
