My friend just deployed last week. I was wondering how long I should wait before sending mail to the address he gave me for over there? I was kind of wanting something to be there before he got there, so that when he arrives he will have something waiting on him. Would it be a good idea to go ahead and send it, or would it be better to wait?

If your friend is in Iraq, I know for a fact that it takes 12-16 days for your mail to get there. My husband is in Iraq and thats how long it takes for my packages to get to him. You should probably go ahead and send him the mail. It will be ok if it gets there before him, they won't return it. The APO address is assigned to the unit not the area he is in, so they will know he will be there to get it. If there is a letter waiting for him when he gets there it will also help to make him feel a little better.

Tell your friend I said God Bless him and his unit for what they are doing and to keep up the good work!!

You can send it now and I'm sure your friend will love receiving something from you. It takes about 10-14 days for mail to get there. So go ahead!

You should have already sent it. I just returned from "over there" and I was amazed at the speed in which my mail reached me. Your friend will really appreciate this gesture, believe me, nothing is better than getting mail from loved ones while you are deployed.

Send it as soon as you want. It will be there waiting for him. Good for you. A service person looks forward to nothing with more eagerness than mail call.

You can send it right now -- and I am very glad to see that you are supporting a deployed servicemember. It is very much something that will be enjoyed when he arrives on station.

Send it now. You could have mailed it to him even before he left.

Sending mail over their can be funny sometimes, because it could take 4 days and then othertimes it will take 2 weeks or longer.
