I would recommend that you reformat so you can do a clean install without any problems. This way the install can put the files exactly where they need to be and save you problems or errors in the future.
You can also clean your hard drive by using a free download from www.download.com and search for Active@Kill Disk 1.1 its a hard drive eraser that removes any traces from the drives by using DOS through the BIOS. Read the description when you click on the name before you download to get an understanding of what this program does.
Also be sure to do all your updates from microsoft as well as the PC manufacturer that way your PC will run better.

No. You just remember to have a different name for XP, since all windows version try to install to c:windows.

You may even have XP as an alternative OS, wich will give you a dual alternative to access drivers and programas...
