pies are usually round with either a single bottom crust or a top & bottom crust.
A cobbler is made in a retangular pan (at least mine are) & they usually have dollops of biscuit type crust on top or a sort of crumbly top.

Generally, a pie is made in a round pan just about an inch or two deep. A cobbler usually is made in a deeper pan and just about any size depending on how big of one you want. A pie has a crust on the bottom and sides. A cobbler usually has a crust on top. The pie crust is usually fairly thin whereas a cobbler crust can be thick and fluffy. I think cobblers are much easier to make because you just put several ingredients together, pour it in a pan, and then pour your "crust" mixture on top. Honestly, I can't say whether a pie or cobbler tastes better. I love a chocolate pudding pie but I also love a good hot peach cobbler with ice cream on the side. Depends on my cravings at the time!

Cobbler is a fruit dessert baked in a deep dish or baking dish that has a topping sprinkled on before baking. A tart is made with a crust formed in a tart pan or a low, straight-walled pan with a removable bottom. A pie, similar to a tart, is baked in a pie pan that has sloping sides. Both a tart and a pie can have the crust prebaked and filled or baked with fruits, custards or chocolate.

cobbler is usually a made with fruit, you dont see chocolate cobbler, but you do see chocolate pie.
Also, pie has a single bottom crust and sometimes, a top crust. Crust is made with flour and lard and about a tablespoon of water. Its formed into a dough, then rolled out.
cobbler only has a crust on top. Its usually made with crumbs, made from flour, sugar & butter. You can add spices or oats.
