That is something you need to see a physician for and right away. There are many different kinds of medications but not all work for all people. High blood pressure is nothing to fool around with. And don't let anybody tell you to take garlic pills. GO TO THE DOCTOR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

This is something you need to discuss with your physician. He will prescribe what medicines you need. If you are looking into more natural methods, the best way to get your blood pressure down is to lose weight and include a good cardiovascular activity into your life on a regular basis.

You need to know what is the cause of your blood pressure being high.
Is it diet, genetic, or stress.
Consult your doctor for the right approaches.

Generally, eat healthy: low salt diet, low fat, high HDL cholestoral diet, high fiber diets should help.

Also, exercise, start from mild exercises, walking, swimming, jogging etc.

diuretics- decreases blood volume

ACE inhibitors-interferes w/ the action of the enzyme that converts inactive angiotenesinI to the artery constrictor angiotensin II. the absence of this substance allows artery to widen & the BP to drop (captopril, enalapril, perindopil, ramipril)

calcium channel blockers-reduces the contraction of impulses in the heart causes vasodilation (amlodipine, diltiazem, nicardipine, nifedipine, verapamil)

potassium channel activators- improves the blood supply to the heart muscles in angina (chest pain)
