My cat will come up to me and jumps on my lap and starts to knead my chest or stomach as if she were fluffing a pillow and she starts rubbing her face all over my shirt while she is purring. Why does she do this?

she is kneeding you with her paws bc that is what they do the push the milk out of their mothers when they are babies, it is a comforting thing, rubbing her face is her marking you and putting ehr scent on you because she loves you!

The rubbing is her loving you up, but it also a way she gets her oil on you to make you hers. She is marking you with her scent. The purring you know means your cat is happy and loving. The kneading on you is just that making herself comfy on you. when she acts like this, it melts your heart, doesn't it? I love my kitty and he is very old and he still manages to do this. He is 20 years old.

I've read that it's a trait left over from kittenhood when a kitten kneads the mother's tummy while nursing. So it would be like a comfort reflex when your cat does that to you. Take it as a compliment, he's just letting you know he's content!

Your kitty is kneading with her paws to show she is happy. That's why she is purring also. She is rubbing her face on you to leave her scent. She is marking you as her territory. Hope this helps.

Oh particular! each and all the time lol, it makes me bounce up with fright and show remorseful approximately (cats call) and then I realize it is barely between the cats rubber balls that i'm stepping on. it is so humorous while that happens! lol

well whenever she rubs on you she is marking her territory by putting her scent on you. and the kneading is just her way of finding a comfy spot. its all totally normal

She might like the smell, it makes her feel warm, comfy and loved, a sense of security for her. As Martha Stewart would say (Its a Good Thing)

Probably because she loves you and she feels comfortable and safe on you. Sounds like you have a sweet cat.
