Tent City for everyone caught for a minimum sentence of 6 months and then deport them. Maricopa County, AZ has an example of the how-to's.

a. Pass a law saying that only the children born to citizens or people in the process of becoming citizens receive automatic citizenship by birth.
b. Having welfare offices, public housing authorities, voting booths, etc. demand proof of citizenship and identification for applicants. Public schools must also demand citizenship, not only of the child but of the parents. (If the parents are legal immigrants, they must show proof that they are going through the citizenship process.)
c. I'd erect a high border fence with barbed wire and razor wire, and then strengthen the border patrol, their powers, and border security in general.
d. I'd give the illegals a date by which to leave America. If they are not out by then, they will be permanently deported, permanently banned from the United States, and will have enough of their property seized and sold to pay for the costs of deporting them.
e. I'd start prison chain gangs up to pick the farmer's crops. The farmers would pay the prison (not the individual workers) and would get more workers, while the prisons would start making a profit.
f. I'd start arresting all future illegals and sticking them in the prison work camps, where they'd be deported back to their previous homeland as soon as they made the prison enough money to pay for their stay and the cost of deporting them.
g. I'd fine any company caught hiring illegal immigrants $25,000 per illegal.

A combination of the Tent City and a wall built by illegals caught. Since they have committed a federal crime, they would be given an option of being deported or working on the wall. If they work on the wall for at least 6 months while living in the tent city, they will have “x” amount of time taken off of their LEGAL process for becoming citizens LEGALLY. They will also be paid minimum wage, but the cost of their food and housing will be deducted from their pay much the same as the way any inmate will have $$ deducted for their expenses (in some states this does not apply.) If, after the 6 months they decide they don’t want to take the legal route, they will be deported. If they are caught again, they get 1 year and all previously earned processing time will be lost.

I would also levy heavy fines on companies caught employing illegals and equal incarceration for the executives and owners of those companies. They will have an option of longer incarceration in a standard prison, but either way they will have to work off their debt to society.

Build an 100 foot unclimbable fence on the border, give all illegals who have not been arrested a temporary visa (deport all who have committed crimes), pay a $5,000 fine, make them learn English, they will not be able to collect unemployment, welfare or food stamps. After 5 years make them take an english exam and if they pass they can apply for a green card if they have not been committed of any crimes. If they fail the English exam they get temp visa extended for 1 more year and if they do not pass the English exam the second time then they will have to leave the country. Also make sure everyone is using e-verify.

heres an idea,
put pressures on domestic outsourcing hiring laborers in underdeveloped countries, ie boycotting products and services. if successful these wealthy corporations will have the incentive to bring labor opportunities back here. With more labor in (particularly) service/support oriented industries, pressures could be alleviated from the high-tension battle for blue collar jobs being fought between unemployed Americans and illegal immigrants.

While illegal immigration is a growing concern, I think the adverse effects not because of the influx of immigrants, but rather the outsourcing of labor to other countries- which is effectively evaporating the employment pool here.

Why are 50% of Americans (the bottom half of income producers) fighting over 2% of US wealth?

Thats what we ought to be focusing on.

Close the Border to all Illegal Traffic, by any means necessary!
Once that is accomplished, then search our Country for Illegals, and immediately deport them all to their Country of Origin!
We have a legal procedure for immigration into the United States of America, and everyone must obey and follow the Laws of the Country they wish to enter!

We can catch them when we see them. The police can make raids at places that employ them.

However, it's not changing the major global trend: Manual labor is moving away from the U.S., whether we like it or not. Personally, I think it *can* be a good thing for us, but only if we educate everybody here better. My dream world is that that we all move up the ladder to the point where we are screaming to have people come in an do all the hard work (for 1/3 of the price...)

Let the American people defend their country without being thrown in jail. For one month after we allow ample time for all the legal immigrants to get their papers again and new ID cards to show that they belong here, all Americans that were born here will be allowed to shoot a person on the spot if they cannot show proof that they deserve to be here, be it that they are here on vacation, which then they will have a stamp on their passport to show that they came through customs, or they have a visa to be here. Once people start getting shot, the rest of the illegals will run out of the country. Also, make it a law that you actually have to prove citizenship to get welfare, and jobs, and living spaces.

We must secure our borders first, a fence is a good start. Have the border patrol work the ports of entry, the fence line and non ports of entry would be patroled by the military. Lastly have i c e go after those who give the illegals work, they would deport illegals and fine the employers. Also deport all illegals already here.

the US companies that want the cheap labor should invest in Mexico instead, where the workers can stay in their own country. the US should revamp immigration policies to make it easier to come here legally, and punish more strictly those who come illegally. also, the US government should work with the Mexican government about raising the standard of living in Mexico. the government there isn't doing enough about it, because why should they care if their poor people come here? and while it is not our job to counsel other countries on how to live and treat their people, we do so much of it anyway that we might as well help out Mexico because in the long run we will be helping our own people.
