4 days ago.. The bleeding should have stopped by now, so the gauze shouldnt be an issue now. You should be clear of 'dry sockets' as well.
As far as the swelling is concerned, its gonna take some time. Your mouth/jaw has gone through major tramua, and its gonna need time to heal. I had all taken out at once, and i swelled so bad, it took a week to go away. Not to mention the bruising afterwards, it looked like i had been beat to a bloody pulp! That should go away in acouple weeks.
Unfortunately, you cant do anything for making the swelling go away any faster. Everybody's bodies act and react differently. Ice packs is/was the key.. but if your doing that already, just ride it out. You'll start to see a difference very soon. Normally a week, is when you start to see progress! Hang tight.. its coming!!

Ice packs only work to keep the area from swelling and should only be used for the first 24 to 48 hours. After that warm packs (heating pad) increases blood flow and decreases the swelling.
I had 12 teeth taken out on Monday so I know how you feel. Just don't rinse too hard or suck on a straw. Spitting is also a no-no. You want the blood clot in the socket to harden and begin the healing process.

I had both my lowers done 3 weeks ago and know what it's like to be swollen and hurting. I hope you don't have to deal with Dry Sockets because that is the probably the worst pain I've ever had to deal with....I needed a stronger prescription pain killer than was prescribed and a heating pad before I noticed any real difference. I think it took about 5 or 6 days for the swelling to start to go down, mine were impacted and took some cutting, pounding and major tugging before they were done but just follow your Dentists advice and keep the areas clean using warm saline rinses after meals and you'll be all right.
Hope you get to feeling better soon

There is nothing more you can do other than what you are already doing. You should also be doing jaw exercises to stop the jaw from getting stiff. Put your first finger underneath the index finger and use them in a scissor action to open your jaw little by little. Do this at least three to four times a day and keep up the ice packs and medication. Hope you get better soon.

it takes 4 days for the swelling to reach its peak - then 4 days more to go down - you may experience brusing -DO NOT USE ICE - ice is for the first 24 hours - it will heal on its on - in its own time - you need to begin to eat normally - you should have an appointment to be checked at the 1 week point and please be sure to rinse your mouth with warm water and/or warm salt water (dash of salt in glass of warm water) that will help the healing. You are going to be just fine.

I'm getting mine out in 2 weeks, and a girl I work with gave me advice to get a Water Pick and use warm water in it to clean out the spots where the teeth were. She said food can get trapped in there and really cause a lot of pain. If you have had pudding or anything else with milk in it, that can get trapped and start to smell bad too! Ick! :oP

Please, for the love of all that is Holy---keep that gauze in those empty sockets.
I know you are in a great deal of discomfort but if you get what is known as "Dry Sockets", you'll really find out what pain is.
PLEASE do what your dentists has bade you to do.
Take the anti-biotics, keep the ice-packs going, and don't poke around with your tongue!
Good luck!

If any of them were impacted it will definitely take a while. 2 of mine were and I was swollen for a week.

Take plenty of rest. If not, you may end up in hospital.
