Anything is better than nothing, so if you think you will stick to the walks in the long term then yes, absolutely you will see results, however if you are replacing the caloiries burnt by overeating then your wasting your time, diet is the biggest factor when loosing weight as it comes down to energy in and energy out, obviously if you consume more than you burn off you will gain, if you burn more than you consume you loose,

if your really serious and are enjoying the exercise, mix it up swim run cylcle walk pump iron, the variation will stop your body from ajusting to the same regular exercise, and becoming more efficeint i.e using less calories to perform the task. Also combining weights with cardio type exercises has been shown to be the most effective weight loss tool over the long term. however it needs to be done over just that the long term, stick to what you enjoy youre more likely to stick at it, as i said anything is better than nothing.

I suppose it really depends how fit\what size\age you are to start with. Personally I think if you want to see a significant change in your appearance you should jog or do something a bit more intensive. Walking is good for you and would increase your fitness levels but this probably would only show a subtle change in your appearance. If walking try and include some hills and walk at a brisk pace. Jogging would have a faster effect but it probably wouldn't be good to jog everyday - you wouldn't want to wear out your joints, how about jogging some days and walking (including hills - which would tone muscles that jogging wouldn't) on others.

you will see the results in inches lost more than you will see it on the scale which is still good if you are not tied into having to see the scale move daily.

However, jogging is very good, you will see results in inches lost within 3 days or less. But you must learn to enjoy it or you will stop doing it so start out slow, with an iPod, and a comfortable jogging outfit.

You can do this, don't let anybody tell you you can't or that you are crazy for doing it.

Best of luck !

Well, i have lost over 35lbs in the past couple months. I actually lost 20lbs in under a 6weeks by eating healthy and by walking one day and then the next jogging. I would walk for an hour and jog for about .5hr to .75hr. As long as you don't over eat, such as no fatty foods or fast food, then you should do good.

You won't really tone up until you get more vigorous with your workouts, but walking/running is a good way to get off the unwanted fat/love handles.

good luck

You will not expect for what you can get just by walking..

Read this

1-5 minutes
If you walk about 1 to 5 minutes, it causes your heartbeat increase from 70 to 100 times per minute, your blood flows more faster and your muscle starts to feel a little hot. If you continue walking more than 5 minutes, your body will burn 5 calories per minute instead of just 1 calorie in a time you relax.
6-10 minutes
Your heartbeat increase from 100 to 140 times per minute. Burned calories increase become 6 calories per minute and the blood pressure got a little bit higher. This will make more bloods and oxygens flow especially to move the muscle.

You can here for more benefits on walking and it's time period.

Walking will absolutely help you tone and lose weight...not only that but a morning walk like your indicating is a great time to clear your head. A good way to burn off calories is to walk faster ..the faster you walk the mile the more you will burn..Adding leg weights will also increase calorie burn and cardiovascular exercise...the rage now is the walking pole...this helps burn more calories and gives your body a total workout much like cross country skiing...walking is addicting and once you get in the habit you will not want to miss a walk even in the rain.Good luck and happy walking

Yes, you most definitely will see results... I would walk instead of jogging, you will be able to walk longer than you can jog. Long walks are way better than short little skimpy 30 minute walks.. I personally walk 6 miles a day!!! Yeah it most definitely will tone you!!!!!!!!!!!

An hour of walking a day makes a HUGE difference.

Do it.

Each week go a little faster so that in 5 weeks you're jogging.
Actually, go at whatever pace you feel like.

I wish I had an hour a day to walk.

Walking is great exercise....You will see results if you stick to it ( I promise). I do both, running and walking. Do what you enjoy and you will be more apt to stick to it. I know a lady who walked a whole marathon, and is in awesome shape. It really doesn't matter what you do, rather it is just doing it. Besides, did you know that you use about the same amount of calories whether you walk a mile or run it? (It just takes longer to walk, but sometimes walking is more enjoyable, and some people are not able to run).

Walking will tone your lower body. To me, jogging just shakes everything up and is hard on your joints. I have had good success with walking. Just eat a balanced diet also. If you don't burn more calories then you take in, you will get nowhere.
