I would think if the draft was reinstated then they couldnt be choosy as to who they would let in. (personally i don't see any reason why they wont let them in now) But i will say this if they wouldn't let them in, then you bet your *** alot of people would be coming out of the closet, hell i would and i ain't gay..............

The US Legislature would have to change the law. If it is not changed, then if the draft were brought back, there would be a lot of people getting out of the draft by just saying they are gay. But you have to define gay. Do you mean happy, homosexual, or Greek actor? Every one between the age of 18 to 35 (35 may not be right) will have to have a draft card, saying what their status is, if the draft is brought back. Interestingly, when we had the draft in the 60's and early 70's, there were many openly gay people that stated that they were gay, were drafted, and later the military tried to kick them out, because they were gay. The most famous was an Air Force career man, whose last name was Matlovich, I believe. that was kicked out of the Air Force, but was reinstated a few years later because he never lied about his homosexuality when asked. There was another gay soldier in the late 70's in Fort Huachuka, Arizona (that, by the way, used to be a haven and choice assignment for gay soldiers at that time), that had served for 18 years and the military tried to kick him out. He never lied about it either. He was allowed to finish his 20 years and retired after a lengthy court battle. It is ironic, though, that, there were very few draftees that got kicked out of the military for being gay, but most gays that were kicked out were those that had enlisted and had served at least 6 years. Also, most people that resisted the draft during the days of the Viet Nam war were not Gay, but are the neo-cons of today. Neut Gingrich is a good example of this.

NEW FLASH........Gays are already serving in the military. I've been in for 22 years and have served with many homosexual people that are great performers. The don't bring up their sexual orientation the same way I don't discuss mine. Problem is when some of these people want to OPENLY express their desires. If I openly expressed my desires in a civilian company, I'd be canned as well.

Under the current "don't ask don't tell" rule, only closeted gays, straight men, and straight women could be drafted. Those who oppose Gay rights would have to support their own sons and daughters being sent to the front lines while openly gay people stayed safe at home, even if they, the gays, wanted to serve.

We're working on that. How about this solution: bring back the women's branches of the Services; then we could put gay guys in the women units and put gay women in the men's units. But alas, those days are long-ago gone. You'd think that those homosexuals in the House and Senate would lend a hand getting gays into military services....maybe there is some foreign government that would take them.

Gay's are allowed in the military- they're just not allowed to talk about it. As to whether or not they would be drafted...THEY BETTER BE!!!! They aren't special. They live here too by God, so if Uncle Sam taps them on the shoulder they better sign up along with everyone else.

It would depend on the department of defense policy, if and when a draft is instituted.(This would take an act of congress). As of right now Homosexuals would be kept out. During the old days many a disgruntled serviceman "Faked" being gay.

Under Clinton the military has a "Don't ask - Don't tell " policy.
The only time I know of that homosexually to ditch serving was used by an acquaintance get out because the military won't let him out. Cheap trick you ask me and I think he lied.

they shouldn't have to serve if the military won't let them in willingly. i had a few gay friends in the military and their sexual preference never got in the way of job performance. i think the whole policy is dumb. its not the gays you have to worry about, its the pedophiles, rapists and adulterers in the military.

Nobody has to serve. Do you see any rich politican's kids on the front lines, NO. What would you rather be, bossed around then dead in country A, or alive and having a good time in country B? You might have to move to get away from a blood/oil thirsty regime, but you don't have to serve it.
