Here are a couple that work for me at this point in my life:

"And praise will come to those whose kindness leaves you without debt."
Neil Finn (from a song)
I just like the idea that you should do things because they are the right things to do, and not for some kind of gain or to feel superior. Neil Finn writes some amazing pop songs, with very intelligent lyrics. He was the creative force behind Crowded House in the late 80's early 90's and has since gone on to a pretty successful solo career and has done two albums with his brother, Tim.

"To announce that there must be no criticism of the President, or that we are to stand by the President, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public."
Theodore Roosevelt (1918)
Considering the times we live in, this is essential. Plus Teddy Roosevelt is my all time favorite president, probably the most intelligent man to ever hold the office.

"It is our choices Harry, that show what we truly are, far more than our abilities."

Yeah some people may think that i am like a harry potter fanatic but i am not, my english teacher gave us this quote in class today. Just because you can not do something as well as somebody else can doesnt mean that your not good at it, nobdy shuld be judged by how they can do something. It is our choices that show us who we are. I f we are struggling with something in our lives let it be so. But by your own choices you can choose to make the problem go away or try to solve it in some manner. This is my favorite personal quote because it tells people that through there own actions and choices they can become whatever they would like to be.

"the question that often drives me hazy: Am i, or are the others crazy?" ~Einstein

Ever felt like you were the only normal person in a room? Everyone else seemed to agree with something ridiculous, and you just couldn't fathom why any one would believe it, and yet everyone else does??? its that feeling.

I usta work at a mental hospital where people were bonafide crazy, like in the movies but often worse. and you couldn't help but sometimes wonder when your listening to a paranoid skitziphrentic telling you how crazy his world is, but to wonder if maybe, just maybe, he's right, and the mass population is the blind group... anyway, there ya go.

"I never said it would be easy, I only said it would be worth it."

I decided to go back to school at the age of 37 for an interior design degree while also continuing to work full-time. When the schoolwork starts to seem impossible and I start to think I shouldn't have even started, I tell myself that quote.

I have no idea who said it.

One of mine would be:
"let he who has no sin cast the first stone"

You know? Just saying, hey, before you judge someone, take a look at yourself.. no one is perfect and so you shouldn't judge others before you can judge yourself. No one is perfect and living a perfect life. Its from the bible when they wanted to stone Mary Magdaline to death and thats what Jesus said. A good quote and it can still be used now in everyday life as it was written so many years back then!

And also
"who we are today comes from the seeds of yesterday, and who were are tomorrow comes from the thoughts of today"

This comes from when I did kung-fu and its a buddist quote we were taught (one of 50 we had to memorise). This one touched me as we are what we are now due to our past experiences and thoughts, and only we control who and what we are tomorrow and in the future. It is up to us to take our own lives into our own hands...

Cheers!

My favorite is a biblical quote, "Before removing the spliner from your brothers eye, remove the rafter from your own"

I just think that is good advice, we all have the tendancy to see others faults much quicker than our own.

"The key to any truly civilized society is to let people be themselves." I have no clue who said it but I found it years ago and it has become a personal ideal.
