Well, if you don't mind taking them into your house then the neighbors might call the police for you because you stolen their property. So the issue would be out in the open at least and their would be a third party there. First you might want know to see if the dogs are friendly because you would rather call the dog warren over abuse than a bite. Maybe having something for them to eat and slowly see if they are friendly. Have good running shoes on.
Whatever you decide to do listen to your heart and be careful. I once was going to save a group of helpless wild kittens from the cold weather and I ended up in the emergency room after the health department told me I had to get rabbi shots. That was not too much fun!!!
Good luck!!

I see after posting this a dozen times or so you are finding someone to give you an answer you like ??
But no you can't take them into your home, that is theft.
But most dogs can live very well outside esp if they have a house to go into.
Here in TV for example dogs live outside all year ( they never go indoors, this is called a "outside" dog) it is a concept that a dog can live outside since they have fur coats and as long as they have a shelter and fresh water they will do very well.
Sorta like the wolves and rabbits and the such in the woods.
People get outside dogs ( since a pit bull is a outside and dangerous ansimial.
And these dangerous killer dogs are fine right where they are at.

if you want these people to sit around and think of many ways to mess with you in a bad way then yes go get the dogs...first i would say something to the dog owner and maybe ask as to how it is that the dogs keep worm with it snowing and all...call the cops and well that will probably piss the owner off just the same as takin the dogs beside to my knowledge all dogs require is shelter from the element not blankets or heaters...don't get me wrong i own 5 pits and i like to baby them but my significant other has a different idea he says they're dogs they can survive things that humans cant sooo its up to you to make a choice or to just realize that in reality its not your business to worry about!!

Two dogs together inside a dog house can keep each other warm without any extra heat. But not for long and not in snowy conditions.
Try to contact the neighbor again. Then if you get no response, contact your local animal shelter or animal control center.'

I may not agree with dogs being left outside, but they do have warms coats and a dog house. I guess I would be more concerned to see if they have fresh water and food. Or if the weather is extremely bad well below freezing and snow so high they cant get in or out of the dog house. I have pets and all of my pets live in the house, but there are people who keep their pets outside and that's their decision and no one can say they are bad or cruel. Regards KG

DOn't call the police. They probably have better things to do like saving lives. Go over there nad fix the problem yourself. Explain it to the neighbors after you fix the problem. If you want the dogs warm, run an extension cord to a heater from your house. When the neighbors come home, explain the situation. Tomorrow, contact you humane society for advice.

Rob, I would be careful about taking you neighbor's dogs, they might claim you are stealing them. I would call the police or animal control and run this by them and make an offer to bring in the dogs. See what the authorities say. You seem to have a good heart.

If you are comfortable taking them into your house, I would do that right away. Leave a note for your neighbors and possibly let other neighbors know that you are keeping the dogs safe and warm until their owners return. this way no one can accuse you of stealing them. If you report them, they will be angry and you may not like what they do to retaliate.

You need to call animal control or the law. If you enter their yard and take their dogs, no matter the reason, you can be cited for trespassing and theft. This is the reason animal control exists. Call before the dogs get too bad. Call now.

It would depend on which state you reside in.
Be careful, if the dogs are pit bulls, the Humane Society will have them put to sleep...depending on which state you live in, as I said.
I would recommend simply knocking on your neighbor's door, and telling them that it bothers you. If they're not home, go ahead and take the dogs inside your home, but leave them a letter.
Good luck, and thank you for being so concerned for an animal's welfare!
My sister is very involved in animal rescue. She always says that animals may not know the difference when they're abused or neglected, but we DO.
