Do you know if you NEED the emissions testing paperwork when you register a car or can the Motor Vehicles place look it up and see that one was done recently????

Each state has different rules! For example, in Maryland you do not need to have the emissions test done at time of registration, you are notified later when it is due. In other states you need to have the test paperwork to register the vehicle. Check with your state's MVA / DMV office.

There should be an inspection report in your glove box. There should also be a sticker on the windshield in most states.
