Southern Heritage....Plain and simple.

It signifies different things to different people, just like any item/cultural symbol.
It was the symbol of the confederates, a group that supported the continuation of American Slavery, hence many people associate the flag with supporting slavery and other racist ideology. The flag does admittedly have a lot of baggage that is hard to separate from it. For many people, the flag is a "southern pride" thing. But, I assert that we can't separate that racist connection from the flag, so I would then assert that there has got to be much better ways to express southern pride such as cooking, accents, history etc. And, food for thought...if the confederate flag does not have any racist connotationsor baggage...have you ever or do you tink you will ever see a person of color displaying a confederate flag or using it as an emblem of southern pride? Why then is this item of southern pride a soley white thing?

Southern Heritage....Plain and simple. I couldn't agree more. Some people say slavery, but they are ignorant. There was a lot more to the cival war than slavery. The south wasn't fighting the north over this issue only. In fact it wasn't a big issue, it just happened to get resolved during that time. If it was a big issue why did so many northern people have slavesPeople who don't understand that need to pick up a real history book.
Now it is just represents southern pride which there is nothing wrong with it.

Which flag,

there are many confederate flags, you have the national flag of the confederate states, you have varioius southern state flags and you have the more well known battle flag.

It is just the same as a south african flying or displaying his flag, or the mexican flying his flag, and so on, it is a flag of a nation.

It signifies everything the confederate solider fought and died for. And it was not just slavery, I know a lot of black people think that, but the civil war was not about them entirely. They are just not that important. I am a Texas Rebel and proud of it.
The civil war was fought over mnay differnet issues.

To me it signifies my heritage. It also signifies my football team and the thrill I used to get seeing it flying down the football field in front of The Ole miss Rebels.

There were a number of flags used by the Confederacy, so you'll have to be more precise in your question.

Southern pride. A lot of southerners take pride in their roots. It has been made out to be a symbol of racism. I do not agree.
