can somebody give me some advice on how i can help my mom with her dry, cracked, chaffed feet? she uses a filer to get rid of the rough skin sometimes, only the next day it doesnt seem any better, lotion doesn't seem to help at all and she refuses to wear socks,

what would be a good way to treat her condition? what particular product (foot cream) should i use? thanks in advance

I would definitely try Arbonne's Herbal Foot Cream.

Arbonne Intelligence Herbal Foot Cream- Walk away feeling refreshed with this stimulating and soothing, non-greasy herbal foot care formula. It’s blended with alpha hydroxy acids to help keep feet soft and supple.

There are hundreds of products on the market..depends what she likes... good old vaseline and socks before bed will do the trick...but she seems to have a problem with socks!! Why? Cracked feet can be very dangerous...and she could get an infection one day. Avon has some good foot creams and lotions and potions. Body shop....and pharmacy. There are some more medical based creams...topical..that the doctor would prescribe. Having her see her doctor would probalby be a good idea...By the way filling her feet is a bad idea..it only makes the skin come back even harder...soaking in a good foot bath and exfoliating gently is best...treat he a good pedicure at a local spa....they will help her out....

You have to exfoliate and moisturize. If you moisturize heavily calloused areas, you are just moisturizing dead skin. You have to get the dead skin off first, and then you will see improvements.

Kerasal is available almost anywhere. It has uric acid so it exfolitaes and it moisturizes. You want the tube ointment, not the lotion.

Forget pumices and metal grate type files (which only tear skin). Choose a foot file with a grit like a nail file. You can use it dry or wet. I prefer in between, after the foot has soaked and the skin cells have loosened up a bit, but before its completely dry (this way the dead skin doesnt stick to the file and interfere with its grit, and no foot dust flies into the air and into my lungs).

After that, put on some kerasal and socks.

Its best not to go barefoot, and to always wear enclosed shoes. However, some people just refuse. If your mom is one of those, she'll see improvement if she does this routine just before bedtime.

Good luck!

This is going to sound bad.. but it should work pretty good... its a product called "bag balm". It is normally used on cow utters to keep then moist and not chaffed during milking. Its great on humans too. I found out about it from a vet that I know who uses it all the time.

See http://www.bagbalm.com/

You can pick it up at most feed stores.

Ive used it before on my hands after working with concrete which is very drying to the hands and it works GREAT.

Good luck and I hope this helps!!!

There's this kind of foot cream I use and it's from Bath & Body Works. It's called Shea Butter. It's in a medium sized blue bottle. Did you know socks help keep moisture in your feet too?

I have a friend that is a diabetic and her Dr. recommended....plain vegatable oil, I know it sounds funny but the Dr. said to rub the vegy oil on and wrap the feet in saran wrap then cover with a sock at bedtime. I helped a ton.

Your mom's refusal to wear socks could be a problem with my solution but what I find works best is coco butter and wool socks. All you have to do is put the coco butter on at night (LOTS OF IT) and slip the wool socks on. I know how your mom feels, I HATE socks too... but this works.

Avon has an entire line of products geared just at foot care so you might want to check that out. They are not that expensive either.
