Mahatma Ghandi said, "I like your Jesus, its your Christians I'm not sure about." What do you think of this?

Actually, I believe the quote you're looking for is: "I like your Christ, I do not like your Christians. Your Christians are so unlike your Christ."

I believe this refers to how perverted the Christian religion has become over the millennia. The way many people today act who call themselves Christians is so far from how Jesus (they're Christ) was said to be when he was said to walk the earth.

It's just human nature. We screw everything up. I've known more non-Christians than Christians who more closely resemble how Jesus has been portrayed.

He did make a good point. Jesus didn't strike me as judgmental, yet so many of his modern followers are exceptionally judgmental. Shoot, that chick up there ^^ has even condemned Mahatma to the christian 'hell' already. Niiiiice. And this whole time I kinda thought that where you went after death was god's call.....

I find it funny that people call Christians hypocrites all the time. Christianity is a faith where we are to walk in the likeness of Jesus. There has only been one person to live the Christian life correctly, and then they named it after him. We all have a sin state, so to think that every Christian is perfect is false. We all are only made clean when we put our faith and trust in Jesus' life, death , and resurection for those of us who believe.

That Jesus was a great man with wonderful meaningful concepts to live by, but that the Christians have taken these concepts and molded them into doctrine and dogma that very few can understand much lest live by. Particular concerning the peace message of Jesus.

Yes, it's true. Most 'Christian' religions don't really follow Jesus' teachings. Instead of loving their neighbour, they get involved in crusades and wars of the nations. My religion will not go to war under any circumstances.

It's unfortunate that he didn't get to know more Christians. I wonder if he ever got to meet Mother Theresa?

I think that means that he knew neither Jesus nor Christians.

I think he made a good point, despite the fact that I'm not fond of either.

More properly quoted: "I like your Christ. I do not like your Christians. They are so unlike your Christ."
