I have the microsoft office package for my new computer...it came with it...but it asks for the product key every time i try to get on

it says the product key is the 25 numbers that are written out on the letter that came with the pack

the thing is, i didnt buy a microsoft office pack separately...it came pre-installed into the computer...could any1 answer why or could you direct me to a site that could answer for me?

Dude, the copy of Microsoft Office that came pre-installed on your computer is just a trial version. It never comes for "free". Even if someone tells you that the computer comes with the full version of office, it is still not free, you will pay for it.

In your case, the copy is only a trial. Which means that the trial period which is usually 30-90 days has expired. So now you have to pay to use it and that is why you have to pay to get the license number. It doesn't matter, if you call them or something, they will tell you the same thing.

You are right that if it really was full version that was preinstalled, they would have given you the number or sometimes they put a sticker on your tower (check it there to make sure) that tells you the windows product number and the office number. But I still doubt it if you got the full version.

Yeah but when you buy a computer that has software installed in it, the cd's also come with it. It should be in a box that came with your computer. Check in there..there should be Driver installation cds, and other cds like that including the microsoft works.

The product key is somewhere within the documentation provided with your computer. Check through that stuff and you'll find it.

it should be somewhere in the paperwork that came with your computer, you still have them do you not?
