My cat suddenly started spilling her water out of her bowl. We even have a double feeding dish (one side food, other side water). She still manages to spill it. She only started doing this a few months ago. What can i do to make her stop?

We used to have the single bowls, and she spilled them too. That's why we switched it to the double sided ones. She also only gets a little bit at a time...still manages to spill it. And there is a mat under her bowl. Everytime we try to catch her in the act..she never does it. Only when we aren't paying attention. Thanks for the ideas, i will try some of them out.

Put a heavy (clean) rock in it.

I think, in my experience, the double dishes are the pits.

Why not try the watering bowls you get from the pet store that come in a container that you can just fill and it comes out automatically.,she can't spill it over and put her food in another bowl.

Not knowing the age of your cat, maybe she doesn't like your water anymore, or the feeding dishes.

If your cat is older then she may be getting sick and doesn't want to drink.

Anyway, she is telling you something and I'm so glad you are on this site because you will get some very useful information.

Put her water in a new container apart from her food. Good luck.

my cat also used to do that, so what we did we bought her the same bowl you got for your cat the double sided for food and water, and her still managed to spill it so what we did, is everytime we cought him in the act we took his water away, and we told him no and rubbed his nose in it, and after a couple of time we cought him int he act he stopped, and if that doesnt work, you might want to try to get her those wide bowls like for puppys those are hard to tip over

Use a weighted water bowl.

Cats are very smart, and if she's bored, she knows she'll get a reaction from you and have something to entertain her when she spills her bowl.
Also, she may want to wash her food or play in the water, as long as it's not too deep. Maybe her water has been getting stagnant or stale in her bowl and she prefers it running?

Remember... we don't own our cats. They own us.

I bought no slip bowls at petco online for about $5 each that really work well, they are heavy with a rubber base. My cat was such a pain in the butt with dumping water until I bought these, now she just gnaws on the edges of the furniture. Good luck!

Our cats used to tip their water bowl all the time, in the end I wound up buying one of those really heavy pet bowls, they are like crock pot bowls, but for pets, now if I could get the one to stop drinking with her paws I would be doing something.

Had the same problem until I bought heavy crockery type bowl that can't be tipped. I just have to change it several times a day because one sweet kitty has to have her paw in the water to drink

You point out that they scratch or knock the bowl around till water spills out even after attempting diverse bowls and shifting its area. I had an identical adventure with my cat and her stainless-metallic bowl. My cat could stick her paw in continually merely till now eating. i think of via fact it grew to become into stainless-metallic the bowl I had grew to become into style of complicated to tell if it grew to become into finished or no longer the way the bowl grew to become into made. lower back in spite of the undeniable fact that, my cat additionally likes to leap on the sink in case you're working the water and tries to swipe on the water. possibly your cats merely prefer to play with the water. wish that's efficient.

When we had one that did this, we started using a heavy glass baking dish, eight inches square. That stopped the problem of tipping, but not of him playing in the water, and using the water to wash himself!

consider getting a feeder and a waterer...this not only prevents spilling but also holds plenty of both food and water they carry them at walmart for under $10 each

Put less water in the bowl and place a clean golf ball in it. She will be forced to drink slower.
