I have recently purchased some anti-virus software(McAfee) and haven't been able to install it because my previous software (F-Secure) refuses to uninstall!! I've tried everything, but what p***** me off the most is that when I go through the control panel to add/remove programs it does nothing to remove this program no message nothing!(I've also done system restorations and nothing). I got the F-Secure for free of of the microsoft website, so I doubt it is a virus or whatever, anyway:

How do I remove my uncooperative virus software from my laptop in order to install my new virus software which yes I have already paid for?

Try the tool that was previously suggested. An alternative is to Right-click the START button and Click EXPLORE. Then Click PROGRAM FILES and find the folder for F-Secure. Inside this folder should be an icon that says 'uninstall'. Clicking this should uninstall it, assuming it has one there. good luck :-)

There a few ways I've done the same thing........

drastic......use system restore to a date way before POS F-Secure installed. You lose a lot of stuff unless you back up.

Try rebooting PC 2 or 3 times, try uninstall from add, remove and not uninstall from F-Secure.

Still having problems you can go into the registry but very dangerous if you don't know what your doing.

I'd call or email F-secure.

BTW----There are installers made for peckerhead programs that just won't quit.....check cnet, tucows.........

I am guessing that you tried the ADD/REMOVE section of your Control Panel. But try to REBOOT into Safe Mode (use the F8 key during the startup sequence, and pick Safe Mode from the menu). THEN uninstall it.

You might have to reboot twice to really clear things out. Some of these anti-virus programs show an UNINSTALL tool at their website.

Visit http://www.f-secure.com/ and look for other suggestions. Here is one tip at their website:

Good luck

Here are the directions F-secure has for uncooperative uninstallations. There is a tool for you to use. Good luck.
