Ok, dear friends, believe me I did an old lady a favor. My daughter brought the puppy and told me that the old lady was giving the pups away, she got problems and couldn't keep them. He, Bailey the puppy, was about 2 weeks when he came home. The lady told us that she gave them milk and the wet food , I guess the mother wasn't feeding them, don't know. Well, I guess Bailey is about more than a month because he got here in the middle of Sept. He is very happy, healthy, running around and we love him. I guess he is ready now for the vet, we are aware of that, he is going to get his shots. Maybe was my mistake not calculating his age, he must be 6 to 8 weeks now. So don't get mad with me, we saved these puppies, every person who took one got them very happy and healthy like this one is, (right now he is fighting with a stuffed toy, he loves them). And, thank you to all of you. I love my pets and will never hurt them in any way.

good for you, and the pup. what i might suggest though is that instead of taking bailey to the vet i would highly recommend you take the pup to your local humane society they have vet services there and it's much cheaper than your vet. we took our dog and had him fixed there and it was 1/2 the price of the vet. plus you're doing a good deed to the other dogs because most of the money you spend there will go toward the other animals that need homes.

I think most people here are pet/animal lovers, if it has 4 legs I love it, and I think that why alot of people got ummm a little grumpy. If you don't get the entire story to us we answer what we see and what we saw was you have a puppy that should be with the Mom and needed to be seen by a vet. Most people know a puppy should stay with the Mom for 6-10 weeks the best being for the Mom to wean her pups. So please don't be upset, have the pup seen by a vet and get the vet to give you an idea of food, its a pup not a cat so it does need to eat dog food, whether its dry/wet, puppy/adult. But if the dog is that young it needs more than Iams,Purina,Science Diet or whatever you buy at the grocery store, and your vet can/should give you that information. Good Luck with the puppy and I'm sure you love your pet as much as I love mine. Regards KG

Chihuahuas can be difficult to housetrain... Get a good crate, and work on crate training. Keep the dog in the crate unless you're interacting directly with him. He's not likely to go in the crate if it's the right size, so he'll start learning to control himself until he can get outside. When you take him out of the crate, immediately go outside and stay there until he's gone potty. If you aren't home often enough to crate train without leaving the dog in the crate for an abusively long time, you aren't home often enough to have a dog, and you need to find him a home where someone has the time to devote to him. I hope this helps, at least a little bit!

We weren't mad at you, but at the breeder for letting the pups go so young. I am glad to hear the pups are doing well and have good homes. It is just that Chihuahuas are so delicate and can have so many problems if taken from the mother too soon. Sounds like you have everything pretty much under control. He does need the shots right away as he does not have any protection from the mother's milk. Just keep food out in front of him all the time to keep his sugar levels up. Enjoy that precious baby.

Because you are not providing the best care for the dog at this point. If the dog is at least 6 weeks, he needs to go to the vet!!!! Clearly, the maternal time was almost none, so any antibodies(if there were any) are gone. This pup is at great risk for Parvo. Also, the pup is overdue for worming. Then, by letting him even chew on cat food(crappy cat food at that), you are setting up to be one of the people on here that says you cannot break the little dog from eating cat food and he likes it anyway!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So, the age is a small issue, but you have bigger ones for sure!!!
