yes it involves splitting the plug that goes into the cigarette lighter
find the positive and negative wires in there (usually black and red)

opening up your dash or the part behind your radio and connecting the red positive wire of the plug to a wire that tests positive when the ignition is on

and connecting the black wire to any metal part of the car or ground wire,

its relatively simple to do if u understand the basics of electronics
and you u know which wires to cut and join

DON'T cut of the cigy lighter plug, it may contain a voltage stabiliser or regulator. Fit a lighter socket they are very cheap.

yes you can, by hooking it up to a spare fuse in your car fuse box, you will always find spare sockets not used and by wiring the GPS to this and inserting a fuse of the correct amperage you should be okay, if you're not sure on the wiring get an auto electrician to do it
