One year my parents decided that Christmas was just too hectic a time, and so we had 'Christmas Day' on 27th December. I didn't keep track of the date as a kid, so was none the wiser.

Another time they told me that I couldn't have money for my tooth that had fallen out because the tooth fairy had died. Admittedly I was 12 and it came out because I fell off a wall and broke it, but even so! What disgraceful lies were you told by your parents, or have told to your own kids?!

Excellent! And I can celebrate my birthday properly.

Actually I've thought before we should all forget Christmas, instead everyone saves the £200+ they would have spent.
On the 25th you all eat Turkey and play games. Watch new BBC's comedies they put on every year for my birthday. Avoid watching the punchup in Eastenders, divorce, rape etc...

Then come 26th, 27th you all go shopping in the sales and get all the things you really wanted, but wouldn't have normally because too busy budgetting to cover Nan, Granddad, Mum and Dad, budgie, Colin etc...

They told me that they were my real parents and even made up a story about when I was "born". The fact is that my real parents are from another planet and dropped me off here and I was over 30 when I finally learned the truth.
It explains a lot.

my mum & dad told me that I'd been adopted & as I was the naughtiest baby nobody wanted me. But my mum was up for a challenge so took me home but was told by the people from where I came that if I was naughty then I could be returned up to the age of ten!!
I believed her & on my tenth birthday I was so happy that "I could no longer be returned".
My mum also told me that if you didn't watch the TV when it was on (ie walked away without turning it off) then it would blow up. I believed her.
No wonder I'm so messed up as an adult.

I once asked each parent separately where I originally came from. My mom told me that a stalk had flown over the house and dropped me, and my dad said that he found me inside a cabbage patch. I spent quite a while trying to figure out which parent was lying - and was pretty upset when I found out that they had both been lying to me all along. They both thought it was completely hilarious though. lol ;-)

i had moved to Oxford in my late teens and it was getting close to Christmas...it was snowing and i lived in a very cold house...my mother called me and asked me what i wanted for Christmas so i asked her for some wooly tights and some jumpers, scarf and a hat...so she said she would Post them to me within the next few days...they never arrived so i assumed that they had been lost in the post or stolen as i lived in a communal house i had been to the sorting office and they said that there was nothing there for me, i called her and she said she'd sent them like 4 days ago...she never did....she said that she forgot, why did she lie...why didnt she tell me that she was not sending me these things...i felt really hurt that she lied to me, but that was many years ago..and it's all water under the bridge...but i never forgot it

I grew up thinking, the man that raised me was my father. It wasn't until a few years ago, this man came to my job, and told me he was my father (I was 35). I asked my mother she said "No". I found out later from my grandparents he was telling the truth, then my mother admitted the truth, that he was. She said she didn't want to hurt me.

i was lied to so many times about so many things i really can,t recal any one specific liei was told.perhaps the mamalian reproduction lie got me in more embarasing situations than any other. i learned tolie myself by imitation and being acused of lying when i was telling the truth as i understood it. there is one sure way to get your child to lie, just habitualy acuse him/her of lying. i can guarentee you they will start themselves. if a child is big enough to ask you be big enouhh to answer truthfuly.
