There are several sources for help for single mothers to go to school in regards to financial aid.

First, the Workforce or welfare office has childcare assistance, food stamps, and a program to help single mothers to go to college. It is their job to help you enter their workforce.

Second, FAFSA.ed.gov will help you tap into need based financial aid from the federal government and the college/school itself.

Third, there are colleges out there who offer help to single mothers to attend college. Information can be located at the financial aid office.

Finally, the state offers grants to college students which can be located by searching Google.com and Yahoo.com.

Good luck!

You have a couple options...there are pell grants, calgrants, state university grants, Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grants offered by the Federal and state Government. There are a number of scholarships and grants available to single and unemployed mothers. I am a fulltime unemployed single mother and I have funded my education on grants and scholarships. Your college or university has a financial aid office and should be able to assist you with scholarship info. The nursing dept at your school should have information and the California Department of Health and Human Services I believe has a scholarship program. I also have some information that you would definitely benefit from. Over six years, I've compliled a scholarship list and would be more than happy to send you a copy.....my email address is akinamat@hotmail.com

It is best to contact your school's financial aid department to ask about scholarships.
