My two years old nephew have some issues with computers. He wants to use it all day long to hear some music and he jumps in to a very bad mood if you try to take him away. I thinks this is not normal and I tried to talk to my sister (his mom) and my mom (his grandma) but they dont hear me. Please tell me if this is negative so I can tell them and help him.

Yes it is negative, and entirely possible to be addicted to the computer and/or tv. The retinas are actually brain tissue and as such the eyes are a direct extension of the brain; it is very easy to be swept up in the visual. Examples abound - the people passing by accident sites who can't take their eyes off them, the emphasis on the visual in advertising, music videos etc.

Small children need ALL SORTS of stimulation. They need to run off excess energy, to learn fine motor control and coordination, to read aloud (put the visual together with the sound), to play hide and seek and all sorts of games which actually aid in the development of the whole child.

Get the boy away from the computer. It will only exacerbate any developmental tardiness, bad humour, and eventual illiteracy.

I think a two year old can become addicted to fun. If he's having a blast on the computer (which my 3 year old does, popping colored balloons with Winnie the Pooh, dancing with the Boo-Bah's, etc) I think it's the music and the fun he's addicted to; not just computer.

Mama could try playing toddler CDs for him to sing and dance along with, and if possible, (I don't know if she's a working mama or not) participate in the fun with him. Toddler games are good, too, arts and crafts like play doh might provide a good alternative. The main thing is to find interesting things to engage the little guy. that'll be the only way to tear him away from his friend, the computer without a "typical two" screaming fit.

If she doesn't have a selection of toddler appropriate music CDs at home, the local library should have a wide variety. Books, too. I can't emphasize enough how useful the library can be when you have a high maintenance toddler!

It's awesome that a two year old is developing computer skills, but too much computer is definitely not a good thing, because he won't learn to interact with other people- this is a problem that even some teens and adults have- they've forgotten how to interact with "real" humans, because they've become their online entities.

always balance both inside time and outside time my daughter loves music and television there is nothing wrong with letting him use the computer if he can. Just so you know being in a bad mood if you take him away is nothing more than a tantrum and this will happen more as he gets older terrable two's ha I have a 3 year old going strong. If your really worried about the computer just buy him a educational activity disk so he is learning at the same time

kids are developing and learning. Anything that becomes the only option and the only exposure of children to the world will limit the child's development.
Children should have the opportunity to interact with nature, run and play with their bodies to develop. Computers are mostly one way communication, children do not interact with machines in a way that can help them lern and develop their own experiences. Computers are programmed, so there is no space for varied and coordinated insights. It is a tool, but never another human being, a dog, for instance, toys that they can manipulate, touch, feel, see or hear. The greater danger is to send the child a message that natural world is not important.

If they are alowing a two year old to use a computer at all they arn't doing there jobs as rolemodles. of course it is posible for him to be addicted. if you give a baby three coffes a day then one day you don't of course they will have withdrawls. It doesnt matter what age the child is.

What's wrong with listening to music? It's not like he is addicted to chat rooms or computer games. He wants to hear music.
