There is no registry for a teacup Chihuahua....because
there is no such thing.

Many unscrupulous breeders have started using the terms teacup, micro mini and tiny toy to entice the buyer into buying a regular size dog.

Smiley, you are incorrect. A Chihuahua can weigh as much as 10 pounds and still be full-blooded. The most common size you see is between 4 and 7 pounds.

THE ONLY TIME THERE IS A SIZE RESTRICTION is when you show the dog, and it can be NO MORE than 6 pounds. That is where the misconception began that a Chihuahua was not full blooded if it weighed over 6 pounds.

No breeder, ABSOLUTELY NONE can guarantee the size of a puppy !!!! That would be like you going to the hospital nursery and looking at 30 babies and telling what they will weigh as an adult. IT CAN NOT BE DONE

Any reputable breeder will tell you this well in advance, they can give you a very good idea what they think the puppy will weigh as an adult based on their experience.

Hello. I am a breeder of Chihuahuas and I can tell you that there is no such thing as teacup Chihuahua. They are runts, usually not very healthy. Just last night someone called me so sad because an unscrupulous breeder had sold them a chi pup, weighing about half a pound, claiming it was 7 weeks. Most likely it was about 4-5 weeks. The pup lived 2 days. The so called breeder had told them the pup would not get any bigger and it didn't. It didn't have a chance to grow up. The so called breeder refuses to give them their money back or a replacement pup. Just want to you know what you are getting into. If someone promises you a teacup chihuahua, turn around and run. It will either be sick and not live long, or the tiny teacup chihuahua will end up 12 lb.

Chihuahua lady is correct. A full blooded chihuahua will not get over 6 lbs as long as you do not over feed them. I don't mean to starve them either to keep them small, but feed them the correct food portions. You just have to watch some breeders also will tell you they will be small when they end up 10-20 lbs. Make sure you ask to see both parents of the puppy. Get references from them, talk to people who has already bought puppies from the breeder. Just be careful and good luck.
