the best and cheapest straightener is vidal Sassoon. that's the name of it. it only takes exactly 1 minute to heat up! it's only like $20.00 and you can get it at wal-mart or your local hair product store

don't scrimp when it comes to straighteners, there is a reason why something is priced at £10 or £90 you do get what you pay for. I know not everyone can afford GHD ones, but you can get around the super pricey ones though- Ebay! I got some brand new Kodo ones for £35 pounds, very good. If you are going for ceramic ones, make sure they are SOLID ceramic and not just ceramic coated, and also check if they have different temperature settings, not just 'off', or 'set fire to your hair'.

The best straighteners by far are GHD`s they are more expensive but worth it!! I spent a fortune buying cheaper brands and then in the end I went and bought ghd`s. They are bringing out new ones in january and you get a 2 year warranty with them as apposed to current one year plus there are other new specifications with the new ones, have a look on ghd website for info

If I'm not mistaken Conair makes the cheapest. HOWEVER...from my experience having primarily ethnic textured hair, they are not the best. Gold flat irons are very good. As well as ceramic oven irons-although, if not handled by a professional can cause serious hair damage. I have been told Paul Mitchells straightening iron is great as well, but I haven't experienced it for myself.

My girlfriend moaned like hell because her Corioliss straighteners packed up and I bought her a new pair of SCP tourmaline straighteners. She was after a GHD pair but SCP are half the price. Reluctantly she admitted I'd done a good job as they're of professional build quality and do a great job! I got them online at http://www.hairstuffdirect.co.uk/ only took a couple of days without problems.

alot of hair straighteners do pretty much the same job. it depends on what you want it for i suppose. I own the remington wet 2 straight......i believe it was 20-25 dollars and it works very well. you can also use straightening aid hairsprays and finishing sprays such as Herbal Esscences Dangerously Straight products. You can get these products at Wal-mart.

Revlon makes a pretty good one. It's what I use and only cost about $20. You can get it at most Walmart or Sally Beauty Supply stores
