Im just wondering what other strange meats folk have had and if they enjoyed?

I've had groundhog (woodchuck), a large type of ground squirrel. Because they eat the soy beans and corn around here they taste exactly like beef.
I have also made it a point to sample unusual foods when they are available.
Breaded fried chicken livers taste like fried chicken-no yucky liver flavor.
Frog legs taste a little fishy.
Squid tastes like fish, but a little chewy.
Octopus tastes like fish , but is like chewing a piece of rubber.

Crocodile meat is interesting although a little bland it tastes sort of like flake. I have also eaten pickled octopus which was quite tasty as well as venison and chickens feet.

An old chinese friend of mines' parents owned a chinese restaurant and i was brave enough to try cow stomach and chicken feet!

Cow stomach is grey and spiky and actually tastes quite nice (bit slimy though).

Not surprisingly, Chicken feet taste like chicken!

My mate is a taxidermist and somebody brought him in a freshly killed heron to mount. He cut a couple slices off the breast and fried it. Excellent, looked like steak the taste was good, a bit like duck I guess.
Ostrich I tried in South Africa, not bad but tough as hell makes good sausages though.
Sparrow pie in Malta, to many bones though.

I've had squirrel, which was good; escargot, not bad but nothing to get excited about; and octopus-tried it raw, tasted like an eraser, but dipped in a mixture of soy sauce and that super-hot japanese mustard, it was delicious.

THE THING IS MATE, IF YOU EAT ANY KIND OF 'STRANGE MEAT' IN THE COUNTRY THE ANIMAL IS AT HOME, THEY WILL COOK IT TO THE BEST STANDARD YOU CAN IMAGINE. I HAD RAT IN THAILAND. AND I CAN TELL YOU THE TASTE WAS LIKE ANY OTHER MEAT YOU WOULD USE IN ENGLAND TO COOK HE SAME MEAL, BUT ONE LITTLE DIFFERENCE. THEY DIDN'T BOTHER TAKING THE MEAT OF THE BONE FIRST SO I HAD TO PICK THE OUT OF MY MOUTH.

I have eaten lots of strange meats, snake, eel, brain, heart, toungue, all wild game, but, I must say, peacock was a pleasant surprise, like gourmet chicken.

I have had kangaroo, emu, turtle, and alligator meat. Those are generally meats I would not normally eat, unfortunately, because I love emu and turtle.

I've eaten shark, not very exotic, but made me puke. Although that was probably the Budweiser. Actually, the shark steaks were fine, it was the beer :-)
