(and that's not a facetious answer. Alcohol can enter the blood stream from inhaling fumes)

While the fumes are the alcohol burning I don't think it can cause one to become impaired. Maybe if you put a towel over your head and put it over the pot like people do when they are sick but i don't think so.

My wine consultant daughter says no. On the other hand, my great aunt got blasted eating the olives and cherries from the empty glasses at a Christmas party before she washed them. Be safe, don't drive or operate machinery for 3 hours after.

The fumes should not bother you, but if you fall on the floor after sniffing it would be a good idea to stay away from them!

Only if you stand over the pot for the entire cooking process, or you have a bad reaction to alcohol and it only takes a tiny amount to affect your senses.
