My 5 year old dog scratches and even bleeds on her underbelly due to this scratching. There are no parasites on her like ticks or fleas and I bathe her regularly, once a week, with all the medicinal shampoos. She does not go out on her own and is always in our yard where there are flowers and plants only and grass of course.

Dogs can suffer from most of the same food or environmental allergies that we can. Try her on an all natural or hollistic food. If she continues to scratch, it may be an environmental allergy. Some dogs will also have hot spots, which there is very little treatment for.

yes, they do have food allergies. Lamb and rice dry food is usually what people feed but it also means no people food, other treats, etc and we recommend using stainless steel dishes rather than plastic. You might try slowing up on the bathing and medicinal shampoos as those may be irritating her. Most often the allergies are related to the outdoors and yes they can be allergic to grasses, weeds etc just like humans . Could also be products that are being used inside the house like cleaners etc. Please see your vet as there are things to help your pet feel better while you figure out what the problem is.

Medicine shampoos sometimes dont work. My dog has food allergies and outdoor alergies. You should ask your vet about predizone. Thats what my dog takes. Also, he had to eat Kangaroo meat, but sometimes you can just get a hypo-allergetic food for him. Pet smart has kangaroo meat. Also, scratching may be a sign of outdoor allergies, not food.

food allergies are very common in dogs. popular allergies are beef, corn, wheat, chicken. try feeding her a very high quality mild food. i think its called natures choice sensitive skin, the first ingredient in venison and theres no fillers like wheat or corn.venison and turkey are good ingredients for food intolerance. just make sure the first ingredient is a meat and corn isnt in the first ingredients. some good brands are nutro, solid gold, organix is a really good brand it has all natural. ingredients. all of these brands are sold at petco.alot of dog have flea allergies, and they dont need to have a heavy infestation to break out. just one flea bite can cause a severe reaction. because it is the fleas saliva that they are allergic to. benadryl can help sometimes. just give one pill for small dogs, two for big dogs. i would take her to the vet though

There are a couple of allergy tests that your vet can perform (simple blood test) that can actually show what your dog is most allergic to. The test can be somewhat costly, however, in the long run it is alot easier than trying zillions of shampoos and foods etc. You may discuss the allergy testing with your vet or veterinary dermatologist. Good luck to you and your pooch-

yes very much so.we have a bullmastiff that can't eat any kind of meat.he breaks out in large red itchy spot if he eats it.
one of the best ways to treat is an anti-allergy tablet like benadryl or pirieton or some thing smiler your vet can give you these (but at 10 times the price) just be very careful at the dose you give.you could also try some sulfa in the drinking water this help cool down the blood and helps the irritation u can get this from a pet shop.
be careful of household cleaners like shake-vac or air fresheners
hope this is some use
hope doggy gets better soon

she could have allergies if you are not bathing her too much - once a week is too much and you could be irritating her skin. Feed her a good food like Nutro instead of grocery store stuff and see if it helps, if not you should use an allergy food like Avo-Derm or Natural Balance. Cheap dog food is full of fillers

Something else to consider is an allergy to artifical dyes and colorings in dog food and especially treats.
